I think if we can get this whole healthcare situation cleared up we'd be so much better off. It's a crying shame that those who work but aren't rich are basically screwed when it comes to healthcare.

I would have to find a ride to go to the testing and find someone to watch my son.
I can't drive due to my disability,I don't even have my permit and I'm 21.
And I doubt I would qualify for daycare assistance since I can't even get food stamps.not everyone has the means to further their education.i couldn't even finish high school because I had so many surgeries I had to repeat my freshman year 3 times.

If you're planning on getting your degree... wouldn't you have to find childcare for that anyway at some point?

Nope, I don't work but I don't get money for it. I have occipital neuralgia and have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, though I believe the latter is incorrect, as the few people I know with fibro have it all the time; it doesn't come and go like my pain episodes do. I think I was dx during a time of severe stress when I was having frequent migraines and the pain episodes were just an extension of the migraines.

Never the less, as I have formal diagnoses of both ON and fibro, plus a history of severe migraines, I could very easily get disability. I just choose not to.

For a scheduled pre planned appointment? If course he can. But you seem to like to just make excuses rather than progress. Perfect example of how you can't help those who won't help themselves.

Healthcare would help a lot.

Look at it this way... my shot each month is $2000. My hormones are about 40 a month. First migraine med is nearly 700 (though I dont use all of that in a month, but I do refill it every month). Second migraine med is 275. Pain meds, one is about 50 (it might be a bit more). Second one is I think around 120. So total in medicine alone I would have to pay over 3000 bucks a month. Id be SCREWED without medicaid. Id literally be busting my ass just to pay for meds, and if I had other bills there would be no way I could pay it. I make 8.50 an hour, and can only work 20 hours to keep my medicaid.

I just get irritated when people say "Well they can work more... they can find a way!"

Tell me then, how would I find a way for medical stuff every month without even making that much!

Not to mention the price of the surgeries Ive had.... Im extremely gracious of medicaid and people act like all those on assistance arent appreciative.

I hear ya. I'm chronically ill due to effects from having celiac's disease (this is the root of the problem, at least, it snowballed into something much much bigger). I went most of my adult life without healthcare insurance, no linkage to medicaid, and no clue what was wrong with me. Fastforward to finding a job with good insurance... I was only diagnosed 2 years ago after going through 2 years of testing and major surgeries. I was only 24 but it had been enough time for my body to have been ravaged pretty badly. I'm walking a fine line between health and renal failure at this point. If it weren't for my insurance through work I'd be smurfed. I have no linkage to medicaid because of my husband's property (which he will NEVER get rid of). He owns three parcels of land, they are connected and we live on them. But because they have three seperate adresses it puts us over the 2k limit. I hope to God I can maintain for a while because I won't be able to afford dialysis if I lose my job.

When your job is hiring people & you have someone you have to answer to on the quality of people you choose to hire - you HAVE to be quick to judge. It's part of not wasting company time. Don't take it personal - I am just letting you know how it is. It isn't about you. It's just me explaining that it's pretty standard operating procedure when there are more than enough applicants & most have at least a GED or HS diploma. And ye s- you telling me you don't have a drivers license & have issue getting transport to take one test, etc, etc, odes not make you a desirable candidate for most jobs. If you can't figure out how to get that one thing done by age 21, it doesn't bode well to an employer about what you are motivated to accomplish. It just is what ti looks like. Again, you can take it personal if you wish, I am just telling you what it LOOKS like on the other side of that equation.

I can see what you are saying, and I think that while there is no excuse to not have a high school diploma/GED by 21, I also can't judge because it is taking me six years to graduate college thanks to some uncontrollable circumstances I have to deal with.

Possibly, but I've never even given it thought. I'm more than capable of working but I do have two different conditions that can and do incapacitate me at times so if I wanted to, I could probably get disability......maybe not on the first try but if I was persistent enough, I probably could at some point.

However, I would not want to for several reasons. First of all, I don't feel "disabled" at all. I would feel like I was commiting fraud. Second, I enjoy working. I love my job very much and I have no intentions of leaving it until I retire. Third, the disability check wouldn't provide my family with anywhere near what I make working at my job.

I can find no good reason to ever apply for disability.

there is a lady that works somewhere in my building and she has no arms and no use of her legs.....she has a nurse accompany her to work every day to feed her and manage the other medical/physical needs she has and that woman is here every single day. I admire her so much.
