is this strep?

DD was eating dinner tonight and said she had an owie in her mouth. I took a look and there are quite a few open sores on the back of her throat. She says it has hurt to swallow since Christmas night. Im not really familiar with strep but dh seems to think it is. Both kids have dr appointments on Wednesday but I will call in the morning about getting them (or at least her in earlier). I just want an idea of what we're dealing with.

very likely.. only way to know for sure is to get her swabbed.

could just be a sore throat... with post nasal drainage. nice thing about strep.. easily treated

White pus?

My Dr. told me easy way to tell is it looks like hamburger with pus in the back of your throat.
I would not be waiting much longer that spreads quickly and can make you very sick.

What are the chances of me and dh getting it? And baby (8 weeks, ebf)?

Strep is very contagious, your pedi should be able to get her in for a sick child appointment tomorrow. If not, take her to urgent care.

Not pus. It's like cold sores almost?

In definitely calling first thing in the morning. Only bad thing is I'm getting my wisdom teeth out at noon tomorrow, so scheduling should be fun!

strep is pretty classic.. white. but... could still be it.

get her in early... insist, or go to urgent care first thing. You'll want to know if it's strep... you do NOT want to get strep right after or while getting your wisdom teeth out!

Doesn't look like that at all. Hers is spotted. I tried getting a picture but she wouldn't hold still. I'm definitely calling in the am.

I got open cold sore types with tonsilitis. Strep can be that way too, but is usually white. Can be spots too.

Haha. Yeah, I know the feeling. Tan just got over an ear infection that was hell, and mike's dad just got into town and they are all apparently sick and Lisa's pissed off at me because I said if they're still sick tomorrow we're not coming. Ever since we got back someone sneezes within 1000 feet of Tan he seems to get it, and it irritates the hell out of me, ha. I'm not risking him getting sick again.
