When TTC...

*Nope, I'm not TTC, I'm just wondering*

I'm not even sure how to word this.... lol, but I guess what i'm trying to find out is, when someone is wanting to TTC, do they have extra money left over after bills, or do they just TTC and hope and pray that they can afford it when the child comes?

I'm sure there are people who get pregnant while they're getting food stamps and living in section 8 housing, etc. but for those people who really want to TTC, do you try because you can afford another one or do you just try because you want another kid and you hope and pray that you can afford it when the baby comes?

Both, we have money left over, but there are some who barely make it, but they want a child. You find ways, you coupon, budget, and everyone deals with less. As long as the kid has the necessities and love, it'll all work out.

There's never enough extra money for another kid.   When we were TTC #2 we just figured we'd work it out finacially. And believe it or not, it's happened.  

I was well off then ended up getting fired. Lol. Never an awesome time.

we've never been on any kind of assistance.... that's disgusting.. especially when trying to have children..

I've honestly wondered this. I want to ttc but this baby will be on WIC. This baby will probably get his/her clothes from the second hand baby shops and will get as much hand me downs as possible from DS. This baby would probably suck hole every last drop of what we would be saving once DS is out of diapers and picking up bigger kid habits like less milk, more juice and water and eating mostly what we eat. I think things will get easier for us once DS gets older but I know having another baby will negate less money spent. SO should have his degree and a better job than Walmart by then but if I got pregnant right now it would be a hope and pray situation and that makes me feel guilty actually, like I'm being irresponsible. We get a limited amount of food stamps. Any extra money we have goes to DS or necessities. Any splurges what so ever are rare like if I get a card with money like h

well my first was not planned and ended up needing assistance with health care til Jan this coming year (he will be 1 and just so happens that i get health care thru SO's work) We discussed that we want another kid (at least one more) but we want a house first. However we also don't want our kids too far apart sooo with that being said we are going to try prolly around fall maybe if things keep going well..but we don't have "extra money" we have what we need...and we only received state health care for a year...I think some times people are being selfish and some people feel as tho the biological clock is ticking and some people just do what in their hearts feel right.. As for me I want to TTC when my body and mind are ready, and I am no longer in need of state help, and have the room available (bigger living space or house)...However if i could afford it now I would totally say smurf the plan I WANT A BABY...after the few scares we had recently and the fact that every one i know is getting knocked up I think I caught the baby fever...hope that helped

because some people do it, it's dumb. I know someone on here who was trying to have a baby and now she's all "i'm so poor, I can't even afford gifts for my kid for Christmas" and she's living in section 8 housing.

We have a full years worth of my salary saved.
We have an emergency fund with a full years worth of our bills in it.
We also have a general savings account.

We add to it every pay cheque.

I could never TTC while in debt or living pay cheque to pay cheque. In fact, that is why we waited so long to start.

We're TTC. We don't have a whole heap of money left at the end of our pay.... but that's because we waste a lot of money. Our kids have way more than they need, and I tend to spoil them. I know if we have another baby, we will need to make adjustments in our spending and saving. But we can afford another baby. Between my 2 kids, we have swimming, football, dancing, private school and daycare.
I don't find it my place to judge other people though. If your child is fed and clothed well, and loved, then does it really matter how much money you have?

kids are expensive. i am not sure there is ever really a good time.

You're smart, planning ahead.

That's what I want to do when trying to conceive for my next kid but it wont be til I can actually afford to buy new things for the baby and have everything I want for the baby, plus need.


I guess the point of this thread was just to see who tries to conceive when they're broke.

Are you trying to conceive? It sounds like you should wait a little bit longer so that you wont stress as much about being able to afford the baby.

I could never TTC knowing I couldn't afford to have another child
