I've seen it on a few dogs. It's no different than having their tails docked and ears cropped. Hell, it's less painful than that.

I don't agree with that either

I fail to see how piercing the dogs ears are any different than piercing an infant's ear? I don't agree with either of them, but I still fail to see the difference but people seem ok with the latter.

Ohhhhh my lip has one of those. It was a bit to put in with fake nails on lol I got the smallest one I could find and dropped it sooo many times!
I've never seen earrings like that.

It's illegal to dock dogs tails here.
Just saying.

I don't even find piercing your child's ears acceptable, let alone your dogs.

What if the child is old enough to ask for it and care for them on their own?

I was contemplating letting our girls do it when they around 8 if they ask for it, my mom let me at that age (because I BEGGED) and I took careof them on my own. I just don't think doing it before they can even ask, understand whats going on or care for it themselves is ok at all.

not until they are at least 12 or 13 very min. I got mine done when I was 8 and I can't wear earrings because my ears swell. IDK if it's because they were done at an early age with a gun or just because I have extremely sensitive skin, but I don' t think it's a good idea to be punching holes in their ears until they are least a teen.

However, I think it's less of a crime if they are old enough to ask for it and can care for them properly. I just won't be doing my daughter's ears until she gets annoying about it. LOL Since my ears are mostly closed (I can reopen them myself easily) I don't foresee the pestering until she's 10 or so.

Honestly, it was probably due to a gun. I got an industrial peircing when I was 15 and the idiot used a gun....I ended up getting a nice sized keloid on my ear (google it, it's not attractive) - I would take them and have them done at an actual piercing place, not a mall joint with a gun. I just don't don't get doing it before they can even talk.....as infants? That's just cruel. Painful, unnecessary, and then they get caught on smurf....ugh.

My ears swell too. It has nothing to do with the age they were pieced. I can only wear nickel-free surgical steel jewelry.

That could be it, too. Mine never got infected, ever (my lobes when I was   but my sister got hers done and had nothing but issues until we tried only silver jewelry or something that was nickle free. For some really weird reason, after I had my son, my ears started getting super irritated from cheap earings, so I just stopped wearing them.

You can develop weird allergies after pregnancy! I used to love pistachios but since I was carrying Ev I've developed a thrush-like coating on my tongue every time I eat them

I tried cheap jewelry in my lip ring and it itched too. Sucks cause surgical steel jewelry is expensive and limited in cute options.

I can only wear 100% gold. even surgical steel causes them to swell.

The last pair of earrings I had that didn't cause any ill effects were 100% gold w/ mystic topaz. I wore them for my wedding. I've since lost them in 3 moves and since they cost almost 400.00, I haven't bothered replacing them.
