Quoting Anthony's Mommy ♥:" Totally normal. Most of the parents of the children I work with (who all have different diagnoses-aspergers, ... [snip!] ... odd, adhd) have to start the bedtime routine earlier than 8 because it typically takes longer to do everything."
It isnt the routine that starts at 7. That I would understand. They are in their rooms, doors shut, lights off, no tv at 7 everynight. No matter what.

its not an early bedtime --- get the smurf over it and stop being stupid. take care of your own kids

if they're going down at that time, and thriving it is good for them. back the SmUrf off you weirdo

I still personally see nothing wrong with that. For many children who take Melatonin it is beneficial for them to get more sleep and I've noticed if they don't they can barely function the next day.

Totally different to babysit a SN child and live with one 24/7. Honestly, as the mother of an autistic child, I find your attitude and post rude and offensive. I think you're being a bitch to your sister and need to get a grip and understand just how smurfing hard it is to raise a child with autism.

You're not their mother. You don't have a sn kid. Just because you've watched them before means smurf. Quit being judgemental of how your sister raises her kids. Like what was said before kids with autism NEED that stuff in order to sleep wnough because their brains don't fully shut down.

You don't spend everyday with them.. Anyone can do something for a day. Try everyday. I see nothing wrong with the way she does things. And of course they are different with you.. You're not their parent.

It is recommended that ASD kids have no electronics, including TV, for 2 hrs before bedtime because the blue light emitted distrubts the sleep patterns even more.

I think all Moms, whether their children have special needs or not, are good Moms when they take care of themselves too and have time for themselves. If she's doing her job as a Mother during the day and puts her kids to bed a little early so she doesn't end up becoming extremely overwhelmed and having a nervous breakdown or flipping on them, then she's probably doing the best thing. My child doesn't have special needs and I still put him to bed early sometimes when he's being a lunatic and I'm overwhelmed because I think it's better to do that then to try to be supermom and end up losing it.

why are you so worried about it in the first place. She must have enough on her plate without you trying to butt in.

So WHAT??

My bedtime routine starts at 6:30 and my kid is also in bed with everything shut off at 7.

What the smurf is wrong with that?

Holy smurf I just reread your op. You are a horrible, judgemental person who obviously has nothing better to do than nitpick her own sister's parenting of her two autistic kids. Obviously it's different than how you would do it because you don't know what autistic children need. Leave your sister alone because you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Twat.

i was wondering the same, lol.. i noticed my daughter (not autistic) was being cranky during the day, and so i took the tv away from her at night. the next day, she was a whole new kid and had a great day at school! so, i'd assume for a kid with autism, it could help as well.
