Doctor surprised at no dilation?!?!

posted 27th Dec
Went to my 35 week check up today....

I'm measuring a week ahead and they are going to do a growth scan next week to see where baby girl is....she said because of my multiple pregnancies (this being my 4th) that she is surprised that I haven't begun to dilate...
I would think it was a little early for that, but she says the baby is so low and with my constant BH's that she would think I would have dilated already...Umm...normally it just happens when it does right? I don't think I have ever had a doctor tell me that they were surprised...normally they give you the speech about waiting and baby WILL come out...

Did anyone else who have had multiple pregnancies gone through this? Did you dilate earlier? Deliver earlier?

My 4th I wouldnt dilate past a 1 for weeks. I had her on my due date. The doctor was surprised only because my last 2 were born at 37.4 weeks. We fully expected me to go early based on that alone.

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and had an appointment yesterday and I wad at a 3. At 37 weeks with my first I was at 1.5. However, dilation progression has nothing to do with how many pregnancies you've had

Being surprised doesn't mean its a bad thing.. Just that many do start dilating earlier with subsequent pregnancies

My 4th I never dilated past 1 for weeks! They finally induced me. We thought is dilate early because I have in the past pregnancies. But nope. Lol. Idk how it'll go with number 5!

Exactly...at that far along they expect you to be at least a finger tip. But it is nothing to stress or worry over.

often people who have had multiple pregnancies dilate sooner, and/or faster... but that doesnt' mean all. Sometimes people ahve fast deliveries with their first few, then need inductions later on. Every pregnancy is different. There is common... and what we expect.. but that doesn't mean ti always happens.
