Medicaid Mommies! *Poll*

Mommies that have medicaid for your kids. If you have a primary care physician do you like the doctor you have? Did you pick the doctor?

My kids have medicaid (called ARkids here) and I HATE the clinic we go to!! I cannot stand to take my kids in there... I thought LO had an ear infection so I took him in today. The doctor said that he wasn't sure if LO had an ear infection because he couldn't get a good look in one ear but the other one looked good. Another time, the same doctor couldn't find one of LO testicles during a check up. LO was getting shots and before he could get them he had some doctor pushing and poking on his boys! Another doctor treated me like I was a child and didn't know anything and basically told me what I was doing was wrong..... DS hasn't been seen by this doctor's office because he's a healthy child. I needed to get a TB test for him for a government funded child care program (head start) and they won't do it until his 3 year check up in April. He also needs to go see a foot specialist (he had to have surgery for club foot when he was 3 months old) and an ear nose and throat specialist for the tubes in his ears. I told the appointment lady that I needed to come in for referrals. Instead she scheduled me an appointment with a regular doctor that has no idea what they are looking at.....
This doctor wasn't who I wanted when I set up the primary care physician. I can't change it because the doctors I want all have full case loads and this is the only clinic in my county with an opening. I am so frustrated with this place that I'm very tempted to cancel the medicaid and reapply and just not set up a primary care physician so I can go anywhere.... Ugh..

But I want some opinions. Has anyone had this problem? Do you like your doctor or no?

I got to pick my doctor for my daughter, and I love him! I've always been able to pick where my daughter or I have gone for doctors/dentist.

With DS I could pick but now their are so many people on medicaid that all my favorite doctors have full case loads....

I wish I could... They are the only ones with an opening in my entire county.

The doctors office I went to when I was little isn't even there anymore. It's been closed down for I don't even know how long....

This is my first time on medicaid since my hubby switched jobs and his new ins hadn't kicked in yet when we found out we were preggo.

I hate it...I don't get near the care or attention I did when I was a "paying customer" and every doc I called to get a prenatal visit with had a full case load so now I have to drive to another town to see an ob.

I can't wait til next month when I will have regular insurance again...this office wouldn't even prescribe me the prenatals I have always used because medicaid wouldn't pay for them...and wouldn't even give me the option of paying out of pocket..UGH!
