re: Being Induced

posted 27th Dec
I was induced with my first pregnancy because I went past my due date. I guess labor for me was easy but since Ive only delivered once I couldn't say. I was in labor for 7 1/2 hours. But Im hoping with this pregnancy labor starts on its own.

This happened to my cousin, baby "was" 6lbs at 33 weeks, he was born at 39 weeks, 6lbs 2oz lol.

My new baby was 7lbs 15oz at 33 weeks, had another U/S at 37 weeks and she was 9lbs 13oz...I had her at 39 weeks, 10lbs 10oz.

My doctor estimated that my daughter would be 7 pounds when born and she was 7 pounds 6 ounces and he didnt do an ultrasound. But either way you never really know how big or small a baby will be until he or she is born.

Quoting Lizplustwo:"    My induction was terrible...my natural labor was easier by far."

But even having an epidural can increase the chance of having a c-section. I have to get induced, every induction is different. My sister had 3, her first one was easy her worse one was her 3rd.

My doctor was only with me for about the last 10 minutes of the delivery...the whole time I was in labor only the nurse was with me. My induction experience was not good. my baby had a bad reaction to the pitocin that made his heartbeat go down to a dangerous level. Going into labor naturally is better for you and your baby. I wish you the best with whatever you decide to do.

Just because some people have a good experience, doesn't mean induction isn't riskier. And we aren't talking about epidurals.

I was induce at 40weeks 3days..6 hours of labor and 10 minutes of pushing my angel was in my arms. People will give you smurf for this..You're being induced on your due date there is nothing wrong with that. They are right about the weight thing my dr told me through my whole pregnancy I was gonna have a big baby she was 6lbs 14oz but weight isn't whats important. As long as your baby is healthy thats whats important. good luck to you I hope you have a beautiful experience.

Okay but making some one feel bad for getting induced is okay? Also, I can state whatever I want to say. Any type of delivery can be risky. But it doesn't mean she is going to have a bad experience either. I have to get induced or plan a c section with this pregnancy. So I know the risks.

I can state whatever I want to say as well.

Getting out of bed in the morning can be risky, too. That doesn't mean I'm going to engage in other increasingly risky behaviors.

An induction for medical reasons is one thing; I've had one of those. An induction for your own personal convenience is ridiculous.

That's not a very smart reason to induce.

I was induced at 35 weeks. Needed emergency surgery right after or baby would die and I would be in a smurf ton of trouble with my body (huge gall bladder issue).
Mind you, it was for medical reasons.
I will admit, I had a SUPER easy labor. Pitocin was started at 6am and DD was born at 9:27 am. I pushed 3 little pushes and she was here. Not everyone is going have an easy labor like I dis when they're induces. My OB even said I was very, very lucky. She was only going to give me about 5 hours to 'try out' a vaginal birth because of how bad my gallbladder was and how I neeed surgery asap.

Anyways.
I was also told right before I gave birth, via ultrasound, that DD was already around 8 pounds. What a lie! She came out 6 pounds and dropped to 5 and stayed around 5 for about a month. She was so tiny. In premi clothes for about 2 months.

If I were you, I would not get an induction unless it was for medical reasons. Baby will come when he/she is ready. Let your body do it's thing.

But, your body, your baby. Good luck.

My baby is supposedly gonna be a big baby, but they aren't always right when it comes down to weight while the baby is still in your belly. Most doctors and midwifes around here introduce you to other doctors just in case they can't be there for the delivery that way you know who is going to deliver your baby if your doctor can't be there. I'm guessing this isn't your case.
If your due date is January 25th, I really don't see a problem with being induced on your due date though.

Your due date can be off. It's an estimate. And like I said, induction is much harder on baby because contractions are longer and stronger.

I was induced twice. My first on her due date and my 2nd a week after. I hate the fact that I never went into labor naturally but I get depressed (ante partem depression or something) at the end of my pregnancies to the point I don't want them. You do what you feel is right for you. However the weigh estimates can be off like the others said and your EDD can be off too. I feel my oldests was off because it was moved twice and she was 6lbs 10oz at birth. My 2nd was 8lbs 5oz. Good luck and bring something to do. Both my kids from walking in the hospital til I held a baby was 13 hours.
