Then provide her links. You could have came in here with links about how is can cause problems, or why it's recommended to start them later. But most people came in here talking about how she was "shoving food down her child's throat." " this is the reason so many children are obese." " you're going to smurfed up his digestive track.".

There is a way to inform people, without trying to degrade them. I don't blame her AT ALL for being defensive. When you feel people are attacking you, in general, you tend to go on the defense.

I delayed solids till my youngest was about... 9-10 months oldish and I was sooo pissed off when my MIL gave him a PB cookie when he was like 5 months old. I screamed at her.

I provided a link in that same post you just quoted.

Before I listed the risks I knew from researching...didn't attack anybody until OP lashed out. She needs to grow a thicker skin, IMO.

You provided ONE link in the same post you said " I'm just trying to inform her.". I didn't see your first post at all. And maybe she does need to grow a thicker skin, but that's besides the point.

Wait, was your first post, about allergies? If so I responded to that with a link to a study MOST western countries stand behind about how less allergies occur with the EARLY introduction of foods.

*shrug* I've seen studies that explain in detail how early introduction can contribute to allergies. I hadn't actually heard of that until I heard a few people on here mention it, so I did some research.

Oh I'm not saying I agree with it. But there tends to always be opposing studies/research to MOST things scientific/medical related.

I'm just saying the place the study came from was Australia, where the OP is from. So it doesn't surprise me that the would/do recommend it.

Oh, I see. Yeah, I agree with you...you can probably find a study to back up most anything you believe.

Exactly. Lol. Like I said, I'm not a supporter of early solid introduction in children, but oh well. I know people do it and I don't have to agree with it.

The results of a study are based on who is paying for them. very few studies are unbiased since they have to have money to back them. Yeah I know nobody wants to hear it but guess what a good majority of us our parents and their parents were fed solids young, we survived, and turned out fantastic. Obesity isn't because you got fed when you were 2 months old. Its learned over years of bad eating, not moving and all around bad habits. Guess what allergies happen you can avoid high problem foods, but sometimes allergies just happen I'm 26 I just started having problems with foods I ate my whole life not two days after having my daughter. In the end you do what you think is best for the child the only ppl hurt are you and your child and you have to live with what happens. My daughter has been on rice ceral since month and half I didn't have a smurfing choice it was that or her screaming because she was hungry. Shes almost 5 months and eating more solids yeah they don't do much but it keeps her happy, my child eats 16-20oz of breastmilk on top of the little meals she gets during the day. She sleeps through the night and I swear if she pooped anymore I'd cry. She's healthy she's happy and I don't want to rip my hair out. Her doctor says she is not just fine but ahead of babies her age and probably more around the 8-9 month old range develpmentally she's super tall and chunky in all the right places. If you give your kid solids early super, if not super it is your choice...why can't moms be more supportive of other moms when it comes to things like this it isn't like she's flogging her child or starving him...

Yes exactly. Also a lot of allergies occur in kids where their parents have the same allergies - me and BD don't have any allergies. Also I don't really know of any one ever having problems with avocado, carrot or banana... And that's why you introduce the foods separately and slowly - then if he has a reaction he won't get any more of that food. And it's fruit and veggies .. It's not like I'm feeding him maccas and chocolates!

And with me as a mum there is no way he could be obese.. My life practically revolves around sports.

He's exactly the same! Being grumpy cause he was always hungry.. Waking more because he wanted to be fed.. Then getting overtired cause he was waking more.. It became a horrid cycle. He's now sleeping through most of the night waking once to be breast fed. This is BF cause I don't really want him to have a habit of eating solids through the night, As that sort of behaviour can be a cause of weight problems.

He eats about 1 -2 teaspoons of food 2 times a day, and then follows that with breast milk. And every other feed is also a BF. therefore he is still getting all the nutrients that BF provides while also filling up his tummy so he is happy.
He does a HUGE poop every second day which is completely normal, and therefore his digestion is A-OK.

Every child is different. But If they are perfectly happy then there is absolutely no problem.

Also I didnt really mean to snap at anyone... I may be a little tired.. Haha which I'm sure you all understand! And it's not do much that I need to "grow thicker skin" I just cant be effed with the arguement. I'm doing what's right by us - that's what matters.

As for my comment about formula - im not having a go at those who use formula, if you need to do it because you can't BF or something then that's what you need to do to make sure your baby is happy. Good on you for doin what you need to do.

Also if you want more exciting news he is also rolling over and sitting,
He's trying to crawl but it's more of a shuffle sideways. Ha!

I started my lo on solids at 4 months old, His doctor recommended it as he isn't thriving in the weight department & was feeding every 2 hours at night, but I give him breastmilk first and half hour later some food then more breastmilk.
They say to start solids when your child is showing interest, good on you for following your gut instinct. Your his mum you know what is best & if it's working for you & lo so be it!

...you want your baby to wake every hour or two to feed to keep your milk supply up. Him being full longer isn't a good thing and they are now linking children who sleep longer through the night to SIDS as well. Just something to think about...

I am not putting you down but I just want you to understand his gut flora is open and susceptible. You unfortunately are increasing his risk of getting food allergies. The most commonly recommended age is not even 4 months anymore(it was a long time ago) it is now 6 months because of the way a babies gut flora changes around this time.
I am not putting you down and I know some woman on here can get really agressive about the way they feel but just, be careful.

^ this website was recommended to me by a lactation consultant and is widely used by health care professionals. Its great. :] Might be worth a read. Its a super awesome breastfeeding website but it also talks about things like solids n stuff.

here is a picture on how the cells in the gut change from 4mo to 6mo. The open spaces increase the risk of allergies, anemia, obesity ect...
