Exactly!! I've seen far worse on here and FB.. I've seen people give a 1 month old refried beans and rice.

Quoting elle-marisha:" So he eats two soilds meals a day at the moment - one for dinner. And every other feed is a breast feed."

"Washing it down" with a breastfeed is different, IMO - obviously if his belly is full from the solids he's not going to nurse as much. So he's still being deprived of the nutrients he would get from BM.

Do what you want, it's your kid.

I see you said you were a nurse? Do you practice in Australia? If not, what you learned and were taught, and what HER nurse learned and was taught are two different things.

My point exactly. Different health professionals have differing opinions and/or are taught different things...so obviously are not infallible. One should do their own research and not necessarily take everything one health care professional tells them as fact.

'shove...down his throat' ... I'm not making him do it! He opened his mouth, I put a tiny bit in and he played around with it in his mouth, swallowed, smiled and opened up for more.
And then when he didn't want anymore I gave him a breast feed.

And that was one meal. One.
He now has a tiny bit (teaspoon) for lunch and a teaspoon for dinner. He isn't waking every two hours for a feed now either.

Every meal he has breast milk. Including the ones where he eats puree fruit and veggies.

So he is still getting everything breast milk provides.

I get that. I really do. But if this is what she's comfortable with, then so be it. I mean, most European countries don't require chest clips on carseats, to us, that's absurd, to THEM that's normal. Doesn't mean they are WRONG for it.

Never said she couldn't do what she wants with her kid.
She's saying he wanted it, he's three months old. He wants everything he sees. I think it's dumb to give a 3 month old solid food regardless of what it is. It can do damage to their digestive tract. Hopefully her kid got lucky and it doesn't hurt him. I always research things my doctor tells me before I even think about doing them.

My daughters old pedi told me to stop BFing her and start giving her formula at 6 months. She also told me that Co-sleeping can cause developmental issues. I definitely didn't listen to anything she said just because she's a doctor. Sometimes they're just stupid

Hey you don't have to explain yourself to me. He's your kid. I'm just saying with so many pedis saying different thing "I" would rather be safe than sorry.
But do what you want  .

Just trying to provide OP with some information. She can take it or leave it. Sounds to me like she's just upset and getting defensive because everybody wasn't as excited for her as she expected.

And why would I listen to the lot of you, your not even dr's. Thought I would just share his progress. That's where it is at. And that's all really.
Thankyou to the people who are just being happy that he is happy.
Have to go - baby is awake.
I'll check in later though.

As do I. I never take a Dr for face value when they tell me things... Ever. I'm pretty anti doctors. Weird because I'm going to school to be a nurse, but whatever.  .

All I'm saying is just because she does something different from you, doesn't make her WRONG, just like something you do she doesn't, doesn't make her RIGHT.

The other day in the grocery store I saw a baby that couldn't even sit up by herself (she was being propped up by sweatshirts on both sides) sucking on a big tootsie roll.

dont worry about what everyone else says every baby is different. I started my first son on solids at 4 months old he is now 22 months and is healthy as can be and is in the 80 percentile for his age. My almost 4 month old just started solids and loves them he gets 2 solid meals a day but has a bottle constantly during the day. He was sleeping through the night until a few days ago when he started this damn growth spurt and now hes back to waking up every hour to two hours.

Well yeah and I don't have the time or energy to deal with people that are unhelpful.
