Maternity Belt

posted 27th Dec
Anyone have any success with pain relief from one? My doc suggested I get one to help with my back and hip pain and after looking at some online I haven't got a clue which one would help or if they are even worth the outrageous price.

After looking at the prices I decided I better ask some more experienced ladies, haha.

They helped with me. I have extreme pelvic pain from the baby sitting so low and laying on my pubic bone. I don't wear it when I'm sitting or laying down but when I know I'm going to be on my feet for a while (grocery shopping was the worst) I will put it on. It doesn't take all of the pain away but it definitely helps better than having nothing. I had to special order a plus size one though, that was the only bad part. The stores all carry plus sized ones but only online.

How long have you been using one for?

And my thoughts exactly on the prices OP

For almost 3 weeks, since I was 35 weeks. I wish I would have known about them sooner. I started having my pains when I was around 31-32ish weeks. I think they are worth the money.

It helps me but only a little. I use it for two reasons. One, I can wear pants easier and two, it makes my belly feel like it doesn't weigh 100 lbs. Instead its more like 50 lol but the pain thing... it'd not a big help. At least not for me. And I'm 33 weeks. Hope this helps. :-)

I got mine at target. Don't remember the brand and can't look at the moment since I'm at work lol it does make my belly feel lighter than when I'm not wearing it but as far as pain its not much help. I've heard the more expensive ones do help but I didn't have much to work with.

How bout um... are they the ones that just have the one piece under your belly or do they also have the piece that goes over your belly?

Also, i wonder how easy it would be to make one instead of buying... couldnt take much material...

the one i got from motherhood maternity online was just a belt under the belly. I can't stand a lot and def couldn't while I was pregnant on my stomach. I also was really huge plus size and belly wise so it was about the only thing made for bigger girls (it comes in smaller sizes.) I imagine if you know how to sew you could make it easy since it was literally just about a 6 in wide elastic band with a velcro patch in front it adjusted in back to be smaller tighter etc but if u make it urself u can probably do that too...hindsight I could of made it probably cheaper.

The one I have is one large spandex type belt. It covers your entire belly from underneath up to the top of your belly.
