Rape and "Birth" Rape (maybe a trigger)

So I have seen a lot of topics on this "birth" rape and it made me wonder...how do these people get the term "birth" rape?


See I was 6 when my grandpa started touching me...14 when he held a gun to my head and actually raped me with his dick. I remember going into the bathroom and putting soap and something else into a squirt bottle to wash his sperm out in the shower while crying my eyes out. I was 14 when he raped me the FIRST time, I remember him dragging me down the hall and trying to kiss me. Then putting me into the bed him and my grandma shared, with a silver gun to my head. That IS rape. I won't go into the details of the other 2 times that involve a knife to my throat and threats to my moms life. Just so people know I slept with a knife under my pillow since I was 10 for my safety so choosing to go to my grandparents when my grandma was SUPPOSED to be there, but got called away on a private investigation on last minute was tether then being beating until you begged god to take you away. Anyways I just don't understand this "birth" rape when the moms didn't have a picture perfect delivery yet they call rape...I'm sorry if this offends anyone but I for one and offended at the term "birth" rape...when their experiences were nothing like the rape I endured

Calling anything but sexual violation rape sickens me and pisses me off so badly.

I can't stand the term. At all.

I can't either. That's why I am wondering how thaws women can call rape when it really isn't legally rape.

I agree. 'Rape' is a sexual violation, not a birth plan that didn't get followed!

Birth rape is stupid! I am appauled at that term

eh I have my issues but do see where the term comes from.
birth is a sexual experience and being taken advantage of or not being in control is traumatizing for some women just as rape can be.

I don't understand the concept either...this story did give me a bit of a trigger though...didn't think it would be so graphic...:-(

I agree wholeheartedly. My stepfather - a cop - started raping me on a regular basis when I was FIVE. Comparing a less than ideal birth to what I have gone through because of that, makes me want to throw up. Someone using an intervention in your birth is not nearly the same type of violation.

This thread could REALLY use a trigger warning in the title. It brings REALLY bad flashbacks...

I must live under a rock lol I've never heard the term , but can't say now that I have that I like or agree with it in this context.... my son's birth wasn't very nice , certainly nothing I had planed/ hoped for but by no means Rape ...

I agree, so incredibly much! I can't stand it. I WAS raped and so were other people and that term makes me infuriated.

Even a severely traumatic birth experience isn't rape.

I get it. Some births go horribly wrong and it can lead to a lot of physical and mental health issues. That does not make it rape. Don't invalidate my experience by calling a bad birth rape.

The title clearly states that the subject is about rape. A trigger warning is not necessary.
