Found an awesome new name for you ladies :)

Macelyn

Poor baby! The middle name is nice at least, Diane. I don't know what people are thinking these days with all these crazy names! I know it's not my child, but it still makes me cringe.

I'm using a name I've never heard before for my daughter. I guess it just depends on preference. I don't care who does/doesn't like her name. She's my daughter. Picking apart someones name choice is pointless. I feel like the people on here who complain about other peoples name choices are just trying to ruin someone else's special time. How would you feel if your friends were picking apart your name choices. At least with original names kids in school won't be able to pick on them as easy as with common names.

I'm assuming it's pronounced Mace Lynn. I just saw one of my friends announce her Niece being born on FB and that was the name. I usually don't mind some of the unique names, but this was a little much for me lol.

I am with you, but the name Macelyn looks like it would be pronounced Mase-lynn... like the spray. She might be made fun of in school for that reason.

And people do. I tend to stay away from the name forum for that particular reason. If you don't like the people there, I suggest you do the same.

looks as though it MAY be pronounced Maci lynn.. but why not spell it that way? i wonder if maybe she just mispelled it?? my besties cousins are named ashland, lakeland, and kirkland and theyre all girls.. i always thought those were odd for kids.. but to each his own i guess

I plan on it. I see so many people nit picking at other peoples baby names. Who cares. I agree some of the names are a bit "out there" but that's the parents choice and no one else's

It happens. I had the same thing when I announced my daughter's name. One of them told me I should have my naming rights taken away.
At the end of the day, it's your baby, your choice. Just like it was this lady's choice to name her baby Macelyn. We may not like it, but it's not our children that live with the name.

If I were going to name my kid something as horrible as that I would hope someone would say something to me. If it was a legitimate name then I really wouldn't care what they thought, honestly, though I know way more kids who get picked on more for having some off the wall "name" that people have a hard time pronouncing then someone named, say, Chelsea or Justin. When they are adults and applying for jobs it's going to make it a lot harder for anyone to take them seriously with names like that. Just saying.

Eh... everyone is entitled to their opinion. We were told we were nuts for naming our son Dexter, since there is the tv show about the serial killer by the name. *shrugs* we like it.
Sometimes constructive criticism is good. If enough people give you the general consensus that the name you (as in anyone, not you specifically) chose must be the result of super stupid pregnancy brain, you may thank them someday when you realize that you didn't burden your child with the cross of your "creativity". If a child is unique, no name can give or take away from that.
