miscarrying?

posted 26th Dec
This is for a friend she was right at 7 weeks and had bleeding with no cramping and when she went to the doctor her horm one level was 150 then when she went back it had dropped to a 20 but they drew her blood at the hospital and her level is a 24. Is there still a chance she can have this baby full term. Or is this most definitely a miscarriage? I don't if want to give her false hope and i hate hearing her call and tell me she is losing her baby. She goes back Friday. If it does turn out to be a miscarriage is there anything that the doctor can check to see what was the possible reason? Please advice would be great! Oh and has this ever happened to any of you being told you were losing your baby and then it turn out you had a successful pregnancy after all?

my friend's blood count was really low untill she was a little over 2months, thenit started to rise, but going from high to low is pretty bad. I hope your friend gets to keep her baby. We just had a coworker that was 29w. and she lost her baby the day before christmas eve. no fetal movement, they don't know what the cause was..it can happen at anytime...

I did read a post about one woman on here whose levels dropped and she was already high risk but when she went back they had risen again. It was suspected that she was carrying twins but one of the embryos didn't take. It's a longshot though. Can your friend request an ultrasound?

At 4 weeks mine was 99, 2 days later it dropped to 24, and I ended up miscarrying naturally eventually. If the numbers are that low at 7 weeks, the pregnancy is not progressing properly.

I wish your friend the best of luck but to drop that much is a pretty good indicator of a m/c plus the bleeding... As for if it turns out to be a m/c that early on is usually due to chromosomal problems but there's no way to tell indefinitely what the causes are at that stage. But I hope her baby is fine! Hope for the best, prepare for the worst...

Thanks ladies. I really hope it could be the twins thing. I will tell her to request one if she can. And areas as the woman losing her baby at 29 weeks i am so sorry that happened to her! Especially at that time of year. I really appreciate the answers!

a friend of mine hers did that.. it dropped significantly and they told her she should just to a D&C, she stuck to her guns and said no and two weeks later her numbers had doubled again and her baby were there with a little beating heart! she wasn't bleeding that i can recall, but its been a good two years since our little ones were born.

please please dont take this as a rude comment its what my dr told me. -- when miscarrages happen early on in a pregnancy it usually means the baby would have had deformities or seriouse health problems. - i know it still hurts and i hope for the very best, but if a m/c is the case maybe she can find some reassurance that its not her fault in that.. wishing her and her baby bean the best..

I was just thinking about this! I always like to find out how people are. It's weird that I become so invested in the posts here but I have no social life outside of the Internet anymore
