re: best friend wants to use the same name as me..

I would tell her that you don't own the name and she can use it if she wants to but that it would really bother you. That you would not be ok with your kids having the same name, meaning you would have to pick a new name and that would also bother you.
I would just tell her that its the name you have had picked out for a long time and you can't stop her from using it but it would really REALLY bothe you if she did.

I would be off put by it because if she is my friend and she knew it bothered me then why would she use it? I would just try to explain how you feel and that it is important to you.   Good Luck!

She's not just my friend, she's my best girl friend. We tell each other more then we tell our own husbands :/ If it was someone I wasn't so close with I probably wouldn't feel as badly about it.

Also, Parker is a decently common name. What if your Parker has a friend in school named Parker? Are you going to tell him he can't hang out with the other Parker because you would think it's "weird"? Not much different.

no we had picked 3 boy names when we were pregnant with our first LO. He was a boy we used the first boy name, our 2nd LO was another boy and we used the 2nd boy name we had picked and this is the last boy name.

well no but I'm also probably not going to be friends with this other parkers mom and we won't have play dates when their little and be calling them the same name..

If she's your best friend and you tell each other more than you tell your own husbands, how is it she is just now learning about your future baby name?

Just so I understand, if you don't have a boy and have a girl...can she still use the name without upsetting you if she has a boy? If you both have boys I can see where it would be a little what the heck, naming them the same. But to say nope, you can't use the name Parker if I have a girl and you have a boy... is absolutely ridiculous. That to me is what sounds unfriendly. No offense. All kinds of people fall in love with the same name and pick it. Just because she is your best friend she should choose another so you can sit on that one later on? Nah. That's silly.

Um if your kid becomes friends with another Parker you don't think they will want to play together at each others houses? I think you need to just get over it I mean what if your friend had come up with the same name on her
Own you both kept it a secret and next thing you know two kids same name. Plus she has plenty of time to change her mind.

I can not for the life understand why women act like they own a name.

A name is just a name.


With that said, she did ask you? So if you say no, do you really think she'd ruin your friendship over it? And if so, then shes not a good friend.
If it bothers you so much....keep the names to yourself, and tell her SHE CAN NOT name her child names you pick (cause you know...you're the boss) lol
