A large teaching hospital by me discovered that when they made the hospital paci free the rates of breastfeeding success took a big drop almost immediately. They discarded the policy and almost immediately BF rates went back up to previous levels. A lot of babies are birn with a weak, uncoordinated suck so a paci helps improve that. In fact, NICUs are starting to use something called PAL that is a specialized pacifier that rewards sucking with music and lights. It's dramatically improved preemie feeding and weight gain. I'm planning to discuss the possibility of getting one with my doctor since both children have had feeding issues on top of me not really producing much milk. My first was born at 35w5d and otherwise did great. My second was born at 37w6d and showed classic signs of being post dates even though that's not possible and our dates were exact (monitored cycle, multiple ultrasounds starting at 5 weeks). We anticipate delivery around 36 weeks again, which is extremely common for my clotting disorder.

I am ABSOLUTELY exhausted. I think I am going to really do meatloaf, with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed green beans. Maybe I will get something else to pair with it at the store, but I REALLY don't feel like cooking tonight.

That sounds perfect!! I totally forgot those!! I will get some of those as well. Warm rolls and butter, mmmm.

I never feel like cooking either. But this is the first time in awhile that I actually get hungry. Food doesn't gross me out as much anymore.

I'm still exhausted and still lots of nausea and sleepless nights. My nausea is so bad i don't want to eat nothing sounds good except maybe fruit.
