Would you?

posted 26th Dec
Ok so lets just say, your 2yr old has Centeral Sleep Apena, and seizures. The doctors told you that when he/she fell a year back it caused something in her/his brain to stop developing. That was the only information you had on why your child stop breathing every night. The the last 8 months you have done about 6 test (2 of which where MRI's some ER visit from after a seizure)
And you still didnt know exactly what stopped developing would you just stop testing and doctors visits because it was too hard, or because you got this idea that a higher power would heal your kid more then doctors could. Would you just flat out stop all doctors visit's for this?
What would you do??

I would never be so delusional as to stop doctors visits because I think a higher being will heal my kid better than a doctor. I would continue with doctor visits... Sometimes it takes years to figure things out. It's harder on the damn child, and I wouldn't be so selfish just to quit helping and figuring things out.

thank you for your response, I have a sister who's child has Centeral Sleep Apena and seizures and she is stopping all testing an is missing her next MRI. Because its to hard to see her doped up and being totured and she thinks god will heal her, she even talked to a Facebook physic and now really thinks her daughter will be healed. Im like fking vivid, she wont listen to me and she gets really angery when I say anything. I get its hard but seriously what happens she is just breathing in the night and her oxygen level dip to low? She would only blame herself.

By all means have faith and pray, but no I would never stop going to the dr or stop treatments because I thought God ( or whoever) would heal my child.

A guy goes out to sea. His boat sinks. A helicopter passes and tries to rescue him. Guy says, no no God will save me. Later a ship passes by and tries to pick him up. Again, no no god will help me. Later a man in a canoe comes and tries to pick him up. Again, no no god will help me. The guy drowns. When he reaches heaven, he asks God. Why didn't you help me? God replies, I sent you two boats and a helicopter. What more could you want.

It's my opinion we have doctors for a reason.   you can't just pray to get your answers. You have to seek them out. They are somewhere. Don't give up.

Religious freedom stops when it harms another body. Ugh, poor baby

I know and my sister odten makes it more about her how sad she is how hard it is on her to see her daughter like that, maybe thats rude of me to say but I honestly just stopped trying to check in about my niece because all is about her feelings and god.

I thought that was illegal in our state? some sort of child neglect? I could be wrong.

i'm not saying i don't believe in prayer or a higher power. but i would not cease medical advice/testing in order to let that higher power do all the work. sure, i assume it would be hard on the child and on you to be running around from doctor to doctor, but i'd continue. i feel that my God doesn't necessarily work alone, kwim? i feel like it is part of my responsibility to do whatever i can physically, and that He is still responsible for the outcome if and when things get figured out. am i explaining this correctly? lol. it's hard for me to put to words. but that is my opinion and belief.

No that was amazing it makes perfect sense, and I do believe in higher power so I agree with you, the thing is I feel like my sister is so young 21 and she has 2 kids a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old and a crap bf. That she has totally throw herself into being religious he hasn't left any room in her mind besides this idea that god is the heal all person by prayer and going to church that by itself will heal her daughter.

i have known of people who believe that. they don't believe in any medical intervention, only prayer. i can't say they are wrong, but i just believe a little differently, lol. i feel like praying is good and helpful and we should do that, but if there is something here on earth that we could do to help the situation, i don't think it should be ignored. that's my view.

has your sister only adopted this view recently, or because of her bf or whatever?

Well sorta his family is catholic, but since her daughter fell off her toddler bed on her 1st bday thats when she started going to church. The BF actually has only been to 1 appointment where he tired to punch a nurse for putting a iv in, and the rest she has had to do by herself, She has told me many time before he keeps saying she is fine, god will heal her she doesnt need the test and that my sister is making her sicker by making them do testing. If my sister hadnt pushed so hard for testing they still would think they where breathing holding spells.

hm.... that's interesting. i am catholic too. i haven't been to church in forever, but i still hold my beliefs. idk, though. it's strange that she wanted to go to the doctor, but now she doesn't because he seems not to want her to.... idk what you can do, though. i'd feel bad about it if i were you too. but maybe try reminding her of what she used to do? idk.... tough situation.
