second c section
posted 26th Dec
So I'm 41w 1d, and I have my c section scheduled for this friday. I really wanted to have a VBAC, but I've lost hope so now I have to prepare myself for the coming doom. Are there any mothers that have had two cesareans? Is the second worse than the first? Do they cut in the same spot or a different one? I'm really scared :/
I'm a single mom and I'm now going to have two boys. I really hoped to have a vaginal because I know once you have more than one cesarean its usually always a c section & I would have liked to think that maybe if I met the right guy and actually was married to try once more (for a girl lol). But I don't want to go threw another c section. I didn't want to have one in the first place :/
But is there anyone with advice or something reassuring? I've been an emotional wreck and could use the comfort

Why is the doctor pushing for one?

Repeat c-sections are a lot easier. You know what to expect, and the recovery is much quicker, mostly because you didn't go thru labor first. I have had 3 c-sections, and the recovery got easier each time. Try not to stress yourself out about it, everything will be fine. Good luck!

Don't give up hope. I've had 2 c-Cestions. Second one being a failed VBAC and the second is easier. And I'm still able to try for a VB2C this time. There are DRs and hospitals out there that will let you try so when that time comes do your research and find a hospital first then a supportive OB.

I've had 3, my first was by far the easiest.

Yeh so far, I've had a CS after a failed VBAC, after 12 hours of active labor :-\ I am looking forward to just scheduling it and not having to suffer through that next time!

I was well rested for my second one. I think that made the difference. Surgery after two days of labor would make recovery hard for anyone. Ihope everything goes smooth for you.

I had a c section for my first pregnancy because my son was breech and my water broke so they couldn't do an external version and I didn't go threw labor. I think I might have felt a couple contractions but that's all.
and my doctors said VBACs have a higher fail rate the more overdue you are.

thank you all as well. (: I feel better having people who have been thru the same thing. My mom and sister are supportive but at the same time they can't relate so it makes things hard.

I like you really wanted to VBAC. I had my second c-section in September. They delivered my daughter the day before my EDD. They used the same scar and removed a ton of scar tissue from my first section. It has healed beautifully and my recovery was good. Good luck mama, I'm sure everything will be fine!!!

I know that it should be easier for me this time knowing what is in store but its making me worse off. I have to have a spinal due to the rods in my back and all I can think about is the pain from those needles. And I had severe burning pain from the inside with my first cesarean, which makes me feel like its going to be just as bad..
I was unaware they could use the same scar and possibly remove scar tissue. I've looked on the internet and I didn't find much. Its all the same information that my doctor has said.
Thank you for your support!! I appreciate it (:

My first c-section was pretty rough too. A week after my incision opened up and took almost 4 months to heal. I had an epi last time and a spinal with this one. I was released from the hospital 24 hours after surgery because it was so much better this time. Try not to stress, I know easier said then done, but in most cases I think the second time is usually easier!

well they attempted the spinal and due to the bone growth in my back (I had surgery for double major scoliosis in feb 2010) & the rods the spinal failed and I had to be put under..he tried the spinal like 8 times or so

Thanks hun..they said I wouldn't have been able to deliver anyways because my cervix wouldn't dilate from the top at all..this one wasnt terrible.it was easier to walk after surgery but the spinal wouldn't work this time due t to the bone growth..all the anesthesiologist kept hitting was bone so they put me under & when I came to I was in a LOT of pain and I was awake when they put in the catheter do I had problems with it :3
