Parenting classes for teen aged girls

posted 26th Dec
I think they should have a class where the teenagers have to take care of a real live kid( instead of a plastic babydoll) for a week. There would be an adult to supervise. But if these kids knew what they had to deal with if they got pregnant maybe there would be less teen pregnancies.
Because the girl would understand the consequence of getting pregnant

Where re you going to find parents willing to leave thier newb with a teen for a week?

And even then, that is like babysitting, which is NOTHING like being a parent.

Maybe like children in an orphanage.. eh I doubt it would work anyway. I have 2 sisters, 15 and 16 who both just thought they were pregnant after me telling them over and over how hard it is to "be teen parent and they are around my son.. they're aware of how stressful and exhausting it can be, but that's not going to change a t eens mind. Thr y think they know it all..

I watched a show in Britain about exactly that.

The teenagers were watched by the parents 24/7 in a housing block, 6 houses on the same street all with 6 different teenage couples who said they were ready to have babies. If the parents of the babies felt uncomfortable about the teenagers abilities they could walk in there whenever they wanted and take their baby back.

They had 2 weeks with a newborn, 2 weeks with a toddler, 2 weeks with a new entrant school age kid, 2 weeks with a tween, 2 weeks with a teen.

Safe to say none of the teenagers went on with their dream of teenage parenthood. Wouldn't be surprised if they went and got fixed lol

There used to be a show like that. Teen couples got a baby and their own house and the real parents were in a house next door watching everything on a monitor.

Oh dear God.. if they were there, supervised and just helping out with daily things.. how much harm can be done. Either way, the entire idea is a bad one. It wouldn't do any good.
