Quoting Supafly★:" I know, that's what I'm thinking. He never had any trouble eating so I really believe it's solely a sleep issue. What do you mean "work it through"? "

I mean cry or make noise. Normally when they're over tired, they will scream until they just stop and are out cold. After this nap time, i'm betting the next nap time will be a lot different. Instead of 15 minutes, it might take 5 minutes of moderate/mild screaming. Then after that nap time, not even 5 minutes. It's about being consistent. If you don't want him to sleep with you, you stick him in the crib *every* time. If you have plans for the day, make sure you're home around his nap time.

That's just until you guys get some sort of schedule down and you both start feeling more human. Once that's done, you can fudge it a little and sometimes let him take a nap in the carseat. But expect him to fall asleep at that time of day no matter where he is. Basically i wouldn't plan anything where he's getting a bunch of stimulation at the time when he's the most tired. That always equals disaster.

Ohhh I remember days like that  ...Maybe you could post on here and ask if anyone can tell you the gist of it so you don't have to read the whole thing? Some, might even send you the ebook

I do like her. She is very patient and aware of my kids' needs. But she just keeps saying that babies not sleeping is normal My first son was a great sleeper and I know that's rare, but I don't think a baby being physically unable to sleep at all is normal or healthy.

That's what I THOUGHT he'd do after awhile but he just cries and cries. I think the most time I've left him in the crib was 10 minutes when he almost choked to death and turned blue. So I'm a little worried about it. I do want to get him used to his crib without him freaking out in it.

Oh ok well thats good then   sorry I guess I jumped to conclusions cuz it sounded like something my son's ex doctor would do. Its not normal....maybe she just doesnt understand how bad it really is? Hope she does testing soon!

I know there are a lot of steps and tricks so I probably have to read the whole thing. It's not long....I just didn't have a chance because of the holidays.

I don't think she does. I plan on giving her the dirty details at his next appointment. I didn't really emphasize it last time because I had both kids' appointments back to back and I just wanted to get the hell out of there lol.

Yeah that would make me worried too. Do you know what he was choking on? Just spit up? Have they brought up reflux?

I know you said your SO hasn't been around much, but I've noticed if my youngest son hears me or sees me checking on him, that will drag things out too. That's why I always send DH in there now. lol Another book I'd recommend is
'The happiest baby on the block'. A couple of my friends swear by it.

As far as sleep, my oldest baby was moderately good at sleeping. I think he started sleeping through the night around 6ish months and it was off and on until he turned 1. From there he was in a pretty good schedule of taking a morning nap and an afternoon nap (about an hour each) until roughly 18 months. Then it dropped to 1 nap a day and in bed by 8pm. He's still doing that schedule now at 4.

My middle baby was harder. He was up every 2 hours or more until he was about a year old and I stopped bf'ing him. He was smallest baby. Not sure if there was a connection or not, but the kid likes to eat. He is 2 now and gets one nap per day and goes to bed at 8pm. If he misses that nap, he's hell on wheels until he falls asleep. He'll normally tell me that he's cold, bring over a blanket and then fall asleep on my nap if nap time didn't happen.

My youngest has been my easiest as far as sleep goes. He was huge when he was born (10lbs) and he slept through the night probably around the 2 month mark. There were bumps in the road, but he's been pretty good about sleeping. He did have some major reflux issues that made things a little complicated. He would actually launch solids out of his nose when he ate. It was unpleasant and scary for both of us. Fortunately he outgrew it by about 8 months.

He's still at the point where he's taking 2 naps per day and in bed around 8pm. He still wakes up around midnight though to nurse one time per night. He's pretty much done nursing, but the morning and late night feedings are still sticking around. I'll be honest... i'm kind of attached to that time. It will be sad when he outgrows it.

I think he was just so worked up that he choked on his spit. I'm not sure. He hasn't really shown any other signs of reflux and he's a really good eater.

My oldest was small and a great sleeper, not so much a good eater. Today at 3 1/2 he takes a 2-3 hour nap and sleeps from 9pm to 8am. My baby is big for his age so I always wonder if it's because my milk doesn't satisfy him. But he is gaining weight so....I don't know.

I don't want to give up the night nursing and all that - I do like it. I love breastfeeding and I don't mind co-sleeping. But something's gotta give because whatever I'm doing is not working for either of us.
