My boyfriends 2 year old punched my 1 year old in the face

posted 26th Dec
Me and my boyfriend have only been together for a couple of months and ever since the first day i met his son hes always hitting my kids and even myself. Yes i know hes only 2 but last night he cocked his hand back in a fist and knocked my kid in the face. Im so fed up by his actions he can not be next to my baby for no more than 5 secs without acting out telling him no shoving knocking him down and now out of no where punching him in the face. Its nerve wrecking to me cause the grandmother is the one that "takes care" of him , or in reality shes just there and he does whatever he pleases she just makes sure he doesnt hurt himself or doesnt get into any big messes or doesnt run out into the street . Example; she'll be outside having a cigarette and hell play in dirt in mud run around the front yard and be dirty from head to toe climb trees. Just a reminder hes 2 not 8 or 9. He has no structure what so ever when he hits the only discipline he gets is a smack on the hand and either my bf or his grandma saying not to hit and if hes gunna be a good boy, and hed be litterally sitting down in a chair for 10 secs and then its ok and he does it again. Last night really struck a nerve because my 13 month old was punched in the face by him and i was yelled at by the grandma for telling my bf that he needs to be disciplined correctly and shes here yelling at me that he needs time out for only 2 mins because hes only 2. this is unexceptable to me i should not be yelled at and on top of that have my son punched in the face like i know boys will be boys n i know hes only 2 but ive never been around someone whos so jealous and or angry. I know kids test n think its fun and games but this is different because the kid shakes and makes this mean grin before he reacts to my son n also my older 1 as well. i know hes not playing around cuz he doesnt like go and hide or see if anyones watching him while he does it its almost like its this tick or impulse that he must hit or punch or push my children. I need some serious help and advice as to what to do with him

Have you talked to your BF about this? Sounds like some kinda of attention needs to be brought up about it. My LO when she was 2 use to hit, but only us and not other kids. We handled that right away, any time she would hit us. we would tell her its not ok to hit and if she continued to do so we would put her on a time out. Sometimes time outs worked and sometimes they didn't.

I'd end the relationship now, too much drama. Cut your losses and move on.

I would leave the boyfriend

He isn't caring for his own child. You have major differences in parenting styles. And it's only been a couple months.

And BTW, Time outs are 1 minute per age. So a 2 year old gets a MAX of 2 minutes in time out. The grandmother was right about that

I would spank that child. Yes, I believe in spanking when circumstances warrant it. There is nothing you can SAY to this child, I am thinking, and this needs to be stopped NOW. If he is not gotten under control now, his behavior will only get worse because he doesn't see that his actions have any consequences. I understand that you probably feel like you can't do anything, but IMO, when another child hits MINE, that's when I step in, I don't give a darn WHO the other child's parent is.

But he isn't amazing. He doesn't take care of his own kid. He leaves the child to be half ass cared for my the grandmother. Leave now before you get knocked up.

I don't think there's anything you can do, your bf is going to have to step up and do something. It doesn't sound like he really cares though.

yea but not every kid is the same because ive put him on time out and they do it too and it does NOT work at all i think time out is good untill he cools off imo

Kids will be kids. The parent of the 2 YR OLD needs to step in and say something. Sorry I didnt read the whole thing but it sounds like a smurfed up mess. Is your baby okay?

So the kid is hitting others, so teach him not to hit by hitting him? Yep that makes sense.
