Would you let your kids attend their school christmas party
posted 26th Dec
IF you were a religion that doesn't celebrate christmas (eg.. jewish) would you still allow your kids to attend the school christmas parties and do holiday related activities ( eg..Photo ornaments)

I would, more because they may feel outcasted and kids can be cruel and tease others for being of different religions, so it may help them feel better accepted. Horrible, but true. That's just my opinion though.

Also, when schools celebrate Christmas it isn't the religious part they celebrate.

sooooooo true..
But even if they DID ... which they cant... but pretend they did... what is wrong with your child learning about other religions?!

If I didn't I would take them to do something fun but I probably would let them.
I had a friend who was a JW growing up and he hates being left out. Sometimes his mom would let him join in the stuff but if she didn't she would take him to the movies or something like that so they didn't feel so bad for missing out.

Yes I would. My son's class celebrated a few different holidays this season, Christmas being just one of them. If we were Jewish they would have gotten to celebrate our holiday with their class and I would want them to celebrate the other holidays with the kids in their class too.

I worked with a JW & she said that her parents didn't let her do any christmas activities or go to bday parties. I always wondered if they felt left out in school

My best friend doesn't celebrate the holidays, she has an arrangement with the teachers that her children do different activities when the rest of the class is doing holiday themed activities, she wouldn't let them attend a "Christmas party" but she would a regular one. I used to think it was kinda mean but they are happy kids and not singled out by the other students so I guess it's not all that bad.
