HELP.. how do I take her bottle?!

posted 25th Dec
DD is going to be 18 months on the 30th, and I can't get her off the bottle. I did for a few days but she kept asking for it, and would throw her sippy down and not drink. Like, she was straight up refusing. I didn't want her to dehydrate so I caved.

I know she should have been on a sippy cup a long time ago, trust me I feel bad enough already so I just need advice on getting her on a sippy. I've tried EVERY kind of cup.   I just don't know what to do anymore. I know the longer she uses it the harder it's going to be to take it. Plus she has 16 teeth. Ugh.

Have you tried a regular cup? Just give her little by little?

I have. She won't do it. She just pours it all down her shirt. Usually she will take a cup with a straw but then she started refusing.

We always used the nuby transition cups and threw away all the bottles in front of them... had them help, we used to take them shopping and let them pick their cups... its not easy but they will not suffer or go without...

The best way is to throw them out and not give in. She will drink if she is thirsty. If shes easily grossed out by bugs or something else you can use that to refrain her from wanting the bottle. Good luck it is definately a hard task but if you stick to it she should be fine.

I had my son help me throw them in the trash! Once he knew they were gone, he used a sippy. I also let him pick out his own cup from the store...

i gave LO her cup at lunch time at first, then lunch and breakfast...
she just got used to it because the tip was similar to a nipple..
she was very easy going with the whole thing, and had been drinking out of one all together at about 10 months.
try these...

Those!

Try those! Or even the one that is taller with no handles...still like a bottle. I think they are blue with turtles on them. I bought six different sippys and those are the only ones LO would take. After a few weeks on those, he can take any of them!

Also, TOSS the bottles. All of them. Do not go back to the bottles, even if she suddenly doesnt like the sippy anymore.

Okay. Thanks. I'm going to throw them all away and not give in next time. But she did used to use the Nuks until she started biting all of the nipples off.

Thats awesome!

After those for a little bit, she should be able to use hard spouts, too!
