4 days PP

posted 24th Dec
This is my first baby and I had him 4 days ago and I had him naturally, and they had to split me so I have the disolvable stitches and I was wonering if they are easy to tear or rip? I'm scared to use the bathroom (poop) cause I'm afraid they will tear or rip my Dr put me on a stool softener, but where I'm sore my muscles just naturally try to hold back when I do and it hurts so bad.. could that make my stitches tear or rip?

You need to poop. Dont push hard just try and naturally let it go. It shouldn't tear but the longer you hold it in the worse it is. Pooping the first few times after my first was brutal and I only had tears not an episiotomy.

I don't push or anything, I always go but I'm just scared to..I know that may sound crazy lol but I just don't want my stitches to tear or rip it just hurts so bad cause I can feel my muscles tense up and try to keep me from pooping that can't tear my stitches though can it?

I had to have stiches with my second and even tho going to the bathroom was worrysome it was necessary to try and go regularly. The stiches are usually pretty strong. When I had my pp visit at 4weeks instead of 6weeks the doc said I still had mine, but that it was fine if I wanted to go back to work. So if I can work while having stiches I think going to the bathroom should be okay too..

just relax the muscles you normally use to push the poo out... as much as you can relax, with my 1st LO i had a tear so bad it was i swear like a split-hair worth of length between the front to back before they stitched me up. my doctor said the only tear worse than mine was a complete rip leaving one gaping giant hole from front to back....

sooo yea regardless how much you try to make it easier, pooping the first few times is super crazy, i was screaming as quietly as i could (sounded like shrieking squeals or something i'd imagine) and tears coming down... but it got easier.. it still was strange and uncomfortable after the healing of the stitches dissolving and it scarring up was done for several months, but not as bad as those first few times.... and i didn't pop or tear any stitches out, i'd say it was 5 or 6 days PP before i was able to go.. did they give you stool softeners? mine loaded me up to take for several days to make it easier on me... but even then when i'd go it was like a large pebble's worth.. lol TMI i know, but the doctor says that counts as my BM they needed me to do.

Your stitches will be fine, but it WILL hurt a LOT to poop. There's no getting around that, but you need to do it. Absolutely take the stool softeners. I didn't and regretted it every day, lol.

I am not going to be of any help, I actually didn't find going to the bathroom painful one bit. My terror was peeing. My God was that the worst stinging sensation I've ever felt...

Yeah I dread it everytime, but your right it is necessary I cried the first time I went right after I had him cause it hurt so bad, but yeah I'd say they are pretty strong.

Yeah my biggest problem is though where I am afraid of it hurting mymuscles tense up and it makes it hurt even worse, and then where I am so sore it's hard for me to wipe and get clean, I'm just praying I heal up quick and I won't have to worry about it lol & ouch bet that sucked!

You got that right it hurts very badly, but yeah definately no way getting around it. I've been taking two stool softeners every night before bed so it's not too bad.
