update on my aunt

she has lost 40 lbs now

she has had her surgery a month and a week ago

My mom [involuntarily] had that surgery done on January 27th and she's lost 122 lbs since.

She had stomach cancer, and when she had her surgery to get it removed, her doctor went ahead and gave her gastric bypass while he was in there.
She didn't want it, but got it anyway.

Well, he did.
He was a weight loss surgeon, and since she was obese, he did it.
She wanted to sue him because ever since she's been really sick. [She can't eat anything without throwing up or having massive diarrhea afterwards]
But all of the lawyers she contacted said that they wouldn't do anything because the doctor 'saved her life'. And I guess if a surgeon thinks something will save your life, then it's alright to do. Consented or not.

ETA: Not weight loss surgeon, but like.. an overweight people's surgeon. He specialized in doing surgery on overweight people.

I would keep finding a lawyer until she found one.

Being over weight isn't life or death. She is having complications because she didn't prepare to have the bypass.
