breastfeeding. . pacifier etc

So I never used paci for 3 kids prior. . At against them bc everyone says baby cries for a reason. . So to me stuffing paci is not really finding the proble. Also have read not to use paci or supplements bc of nipple confusion. But on our departure the nurse was bc telling us we should use a paci bc its proven to reduce SIDS. Hubby was already on me to use one and now with that more pressure. . Ive just been opposed to them. . Thoughts? ??
My co worker bf said she used paci and had no nipple confusion issues. . But I know this may not be the case for my son. ..

Pacifiers work for some babies and it doesnt for others. Ive never personally met a baby who got nipple confusion from a pacifier.
My son is a comfort sucker but still will not take one. He would rather suck on his fingers over a pacifier. The only time he will take one is after he gets his shots.
If you dont want to use one then dont.
ETA: I only breastfed for a week and a half

My LO is bf, bottle fed and takes a paci at night. It helps him sleep because he comfort sucks in his sleep sometimes, or I give it to him while warming a bottle up. Hes been doing great with it, no issues. I waited 5 weeks to give him a bottle and 7 for paci so he could establish bf well. Good luck !

I breast fed and my son would take the NUKs. We waited almost a week after he was born to give it to him. Babies have a sucking reflex until around 6 months so for alot of babies it's comforting to have one to suck on! Some will choose the breast over the paci and won't take one though. If you can tell they are just trying to comfort suck I would try a paci. I would make sure to feed him every 2-3 hrs.
He is 12 months now and only uses it to fall asleep occasionally. He doesn't need it through our the night or anything. I'm thinking it will be a pretty easy habit to break! I have also heard it helps decrease the risk of SIDS.

My son wouldnt take one then when he was in the hospital they put sweetease on one to help him w the pain during procedures. Then, he had nipple confusion, we worked it out and now he takes it when hes sleeping and ge latches well.

Breastfeeding reduces the risk of SIDS better than a paci doed. I choose to just nurse. I see no need for one.
