40 weeks no dilation, no effacement, Still sitting high.

posted 24th Dec
So I am technically 40 weeks on Wednesday & no signs that I am headed to labor. My doctor is waiting to see what happens & wont induce until a week after my due date (I'm assuming January 2nd.) I've had a picture perfect pregnancy & very little to complain about but come on lets get this going already! I don't know why my baby don't want to be here yet!

Anyone else in this/have been in this situation? What did you do other than be patient? I've tried everything, spicy food, walking, sex, pineapple. Nothing seems to be working   I know babies come when they are ready, but i feel like shes never going to be ready because off all these no signs! Any suggestions?

That stinks. My hospital offers to induce after 39 weeks, however I already told my doctor I wasn't wanting to be induced unless she was more than a week over due. I would reconsider if there were complications.

Best of luck.

I know every pregnant woman goes through this thought process of omg the baby will never come out, but honestly things can change very fast. Just keep walking, bounce on the corner of your bed or a yoga ball and rest because you will need it.

i had the sort of pregnancy that everyone was jealous of. I had no symptoms, nothing ached or hurt. I got a small bit of swelling the last 2 weeks but that was it. I had no signs of labour or anything, he wasn't even very low but was "getting there" as the midwife put it. but i thought he was never going to come out! (I didn't try anything to pursuade him out other than bounce on a ball for a week) at 3.15am on my due date, my waters gushed all over the bedroom floor and i instantly started having contractions 4-5 mins apart. Didn't have him for another 3 days though. lol. Perfect pregnancy - Awful labour. lol. x

I know how you feel, I am overdue and going nuts. I kind of have the opposite situation though. I am 3cm dilated 80% effaced, lost my mucus plug, and he is engaged. I have had regular contractions for like 6 days now and still no baby... WTF LOL. Nobody tells you smurf like this can happen. I am afraid I am not going to realized that it is time to have him and he is going to come at home haha.

That was me with our first. No physical signs of labor up until labor began. Our first was a week overdue and we waited until she came on her own.

This!

You'll miss it when it's over. It doesn't seem like you will, but you do. At least I did anyway.

Also keep in mind , your due date can be off by a week or two...so really, you could be 38 weeks and not know it. Which could be why you aren't dilating or thinning,

GOOD LUCK MOMMA!

I was 40 weeks and 3 days before my baby came  . The day before I had him I got up, and started cleaning the house a lot. Washing walls, sweeping floors...the whole nine yards. After that I went to a hibachi restaurant and at some kind of spicy foods. I stayed up for a while after that, walked around ate a bowl of ice cream, then went to bed around 11. Around 3 am I woke up in labor. I think the cleaning for most of the day and being active and on my feet did it for me. Before that day, I had no signs of having my son then BAM. he was here the next day. lol.

Just be patient. Due dates are an estimation and you could have another two weeks left. My first came at 42 week and my second at 41. I know you're uncomfortable but pregnancy can't last forever and your baby will b here before you know it.
