I don't have an answer, but I'd be really careful mama. I know it's not the same but I had an infected blister that I kept putting off and it almost went septic. If I hadn't gone to the ER when I did have gotten really sick! Good luck! Also I was NOT in "a lot" of pain like that nurse said you would be in

not true. i had a bad infection and wasn't in any pain. I only had pain when they did a vaginal exam on me... go to the er. they can not diagnose you over the phone. plus this doesnt really sound like the flu.

They just told me I could have meningitis..

Please go to the ER. I know that more hospital bills are a worry for you but they cannot diagnose you without seeing you. First the flu, not meningitis. You need to actually be seen if your only symptom is fever.

Because I just picked up my script for an antibiotic. I have to eat and take it, then I'll go. I need to be sure to take this antibiotic.

Non-profit hospitals have to profit a certain amount of uncompensated care, ask about it if you get admitted.

Meningitis can kill within hours

Don't wait, eat, and take a pill before going. Just go now and see what the docs at the ER think.

It could be nothing, but do you really wanna take that risk?

I would go to the ER, you can always sign up for medicaid, or some hospitals have charity care-where I work they do-or payment plan-get yourself in there pronto.

Why are you getting an attitude? You asked the question and you got answers. You're on the computer, bullsmurffin' when you should be SEEN by a doctor. Not getting over the phone advice from a nurse. No good nurse diagnoses someone over the phone. Advice nurses do NOT do that.

Because the doctor and nurse I spoke to are three hours away from me. Its Christmas Eve, all doctors offices are closed here. No one else would answer the phone.
And if she wants to help she needs to act concerned not bitchy. Its not going to encourage me to get help by bitching at me. Its just going to piss me off! Smurfing duh!!! I've got a headache and I don't want to be yapped at like that.

I just tried to see any doctor I could and everything is closed or packed and I'm not going to the ER. Those people are never able to do anything!!! And they make you pay and arm and a leg just to be told to go home and rest and take my Rx. So Thats just what I"m going to do.
