clots after d and c (TMI!!)

posted 24th Dec
Sorry I've been posting crazy about the d and c but I was so out of it when I had it done that I don't remember anything the dr said. I've been having HORRIBLE contractions since early early Sunday morning-at one point they were less than a min apart. I've literally only slept 6 hrs since having the procedure on Friday. So today I wake up and I had bled through my pad and then I went to pee and immediately felt tons of clots come out. I had to push several of them out or wipe to get them fully out. There were and least 20 little plops in the toilet. None of them were huge, I would say the size of grapes. Is this normal?? I'm guessing it is I was just really surprised.

Yes it's normal to have some clotting. Heavy bleeding is normal for about 2 weeks after. How far along were you?

If the clots get bigger call the dr and let them know you may have leftover tissue. For example, 6 weeks after my d and c I started getting clots but they were bigger than the palm of my hand. I had to do a repeat procedure.

I recently had another d and c (2nd trimester miscarriage) and about 3 days after had some clotting the size you described, but nt 20 of them at one. Your dr can check to see if they missed any through ultrasound.

Thanks guys. I was technically 10 weeks. The uterus measured 10, sac 9, baby 7. It might not have been 20 but it sure as hell felt like it I heard a ton of little plops in the toilet I'm guessing maybe I peed as they were coming out. I'm so sorry you had those huge clots! and 6 weeks after! I'm really hoping everythings good I don't want to call on Christmas eve/Christmas! I think my body really needed to pass them. I barely have any pain now after days of agony.

It was extremely bad at the time I thought I was dying! But the cramps and stuff you feel will ease and one you stop bleeding you will start to feel a bit better. Just take it easy your body has been through a lot.

Oh that sounds awful too. My dr gave me a muscle relaxer that didn't do anything and then proceeded to basically go at it. It was awful, be so thankful you were put to sleep.

Are you serious? Is that even legal for you to be awake during it?

That's crazy. You must feel so traumatised!

We have that type of sedation here but only in the clinics. For miscarriages you go to hospital and are put to sleep. I can't remember a ting except waking up and begging the nurse to close the curtains because I was facing all of the children's stickers of characters on the walls.

I've had six D&Cs and have never experienced anything like that. My last D&C was the most traumatic with losing the baby at 15 weeks and before the procedure I had huuuuge clots and enough bleeding to need a transfusion, but after they finally got the placenta with the D&C the bleeding became normal. Honestly, I would go to the ER if I were experiencing what you are experiencing. I don't think that's normal.

I cannot imagine not being put to sleep for a D&C. That's awful. I'm so sorry.
