We went and saw Christmas lights.

posted 23rd Dec
This place we went to called Casville has tons and tons of lights. I'm not sure the exact amount but just this year they replaced 80,000 lights. The big trees in the picture cost $640 worth of lights to wrap around the trees. The smaller trees were like $250.

It's a Christian family that does it every year, typically their light bill for just when they do the Christmas lights (a few days after Thanksgiving til Christmas, I believe) is a million dollars. It's free to go and look at the lights, they just ask for donations.

But I got a few pictures.

ETA: here's some more pictures, I didn't take these.

This is the little building that makes snow, it's really bubbles.

This is their garage decorated.

Yep.

It's more than just those two pictures. My computer is being slow as crap. They have little buildings that you go in, too. Like, one house has a bunch of disney stuff in it. In one house, it has a really huge train set. It's like 10 different buildings that you go in. They have a ton of blow up stuff. You can take your kids to see someone dressed up as Santa. They serve hot cocoa. It's nice.

There was a set of 3 houses that did that here. And they had a radio station you could tune too. People stop on the road, it's crazy. And they ask for donations for different charities too. They said their elec bills are only $15 more this month. I call bullsmurf lol. There wasn't a spot clear of lights anywhere on theses houses!

That's what I was thinking. I know there's a whole street (10 blocks worth) that does it all up crazy and they were saying on the news, on average, each house pays an extra $100/month, but even at that you're looking at like $12,000 per month total for all of them - and that would be on the high HIGH end.

Either way, pretty awesome when people do that. I love looking at lights

This is kinda what I was thinking. Lights have very little effect on an electric bill... We actually did a test of it one month. One month, the lights in our house were always on (becasue these kids don't know what a lightswitch is apparently) and the next we were very vigilant about it and no difference. I can see their bill MAYBE being $100 more.

15 dollars extra a month, yeah right. Not if it was covered in lights like the place we went to.
