Not really... Before she was born I didn't have a bouncer/rocker and I didn't think I was going to want or need one but then my mom just randomly bought her a baby rocker and it has been a life saver. (my daughter is almost 7 months now) I am glad that I ended up getting one!!

Baby gear? Isn't that all of the big ticket items like car seat, stroller, pack n play, crib, swing, jumperoo, etc...? Because if so, DD has used all of it. The only thing I didn't buy right away was the jumperoo, I got it for her when she was 6 months, which is fine because it can't be used before then anyway.

We got a travel system for both kids (using the one from our daughter for the next one) and a crib for both Our first. We never used our dauhter's crib because two years later she is still exclusively go sleeping.
We have never used a pack 'n play. We don't put them in them at home (we don't agree with baby-proofing) and when we sleep out we cosleep.

I suggest a cosleeper, I didnt get one at a shower, but I bought one at Ross's for like $10! LOVED It, on nights when she would want to constantly nurse, it literally saved me, I had a c-section and getting up and down all the time was hard, and that really helped me!

that's fine. It just says 6 months is the recommended age because of the way their muscles develop. There's also research they shouldn't use it at all because it messes with development in their pelvic area. I obviously used it anyway, just not 24/7.

I bought everything for my son. crib, swing, bouncer, walker, jumper, high chair, travel system, bumbo etc. What my son didn't like was the swing and when he started teething, his crib. He started teething around 5 months. He's 7 months now and sleeps with me.
