How do you hold your crochet needle?

posted 23rd Dec
I'm not comfortable holding it the way most videos tuts show, I find it fiddly. I can't find any videos explaining other ways to hold the hook and wool but have seen heaps of videos people holding it different, but they all go too fast for me to see properly lol.

I know its a hard question to answer lol but Help?

I hold mine like a pencil. I've tried the other way, but it seems clumsy.

Yea I want to learn like that. Are you fast? It looks faster that way lol but that's probably just practice!

Not super fast, but not slow either.   My grandmother held hers like that and she was insanely fast. IDK how she did it! lol

Cool! I can't wait till I can get some speed!
In an absolute beginner so I just make squares at the moment lol I practice one stitch until I feel I have it sorted then try a new stitch.
No one I know crochets so I have to teach myself trough YouTube videos. And I only have one hook at the moment I need to get some smaller ones!

I don't know how to describe it, but I know I hold it "wrong". I know I also twist me wrist a lot more than I should and its a habit I'm trying to break

I hold mine between my thumb and forefinger, with my middle finger extended to the flatter part that says the size of the hook. It's how my grandma did it and it's how my aunt does it. I've always done it that way.

I hold mine pretty much like a pencil slightly different. I dont like the jabby, awkward methods Ive seen.

As for the yarn, I hold it much differently. I wrap it around my thumb and forefinger a funky way, it provides a great way for me to give the right tension and amount of thread. It may be unconventional but I like it.
