For your bowels to recover from childbirth? It's been two weeks & my guts are so smurfed up I have IBS & have ALWAYS been regular, sometimes I would go more than once in a day lol. But ever since I've had LO, I've had maybe 5 bowel movements and 2 if them I was bound up. Of course this caused roids so on top if constipation, my butthole hurts like a mo and bleeds I'm actually not sure if its a fissure I've got it a hemmie but when I looked last night, I couldn't see anything. Anyways, I bought some Metamucil and am still waiting to "evacuate". I haven't poo'd in 3 days and I can feel it building up but don't wanna strain since its just gonna cause me more pain I always go when I feel the need to, I never hold it in but this us smurfing ridiculous. I miss my regular movements lol. So besides drinking lots if water & Metamucil, what else can I be doing to get myself back on track?

I pooped the second day. I was a c-section so they have me take stool softeners twice a day.
are you eating fiber? veggies? try some fruit

Fiber was my best friend.

You can take a stool docusate sodium(Colace) or Miralax you'll probably get better results with those.

I pooped the day after in the hospital...and haven't stopped. I swear since I had DS I have gone 3 times a day for the last 11 months. I would go once every couple days before I got pregnant with him.

Miralax is my best friend. Its not a stimulant and it has no flavor so you can put it in anything!!!

I gave birth vaginally at 103am, I went around 9pm that night. I was taking dulcolex 2x a day in the hospital and then I did the same at home, 2x a day for 2+ weeks because I was terrified of my stitches ripping open.

I'm bfing so miralax or colace are ok? Are they prescribed?
If I were to take a suppository is it gonna rip my bum to shreds when I do go? I can remember having to use one when I was a kid & it worked but u can remember when I did get to go, it hurt. I wanna use I've but I'm terrified its gonna make things worse for whatever's going on already whether its a fissure or a roid :/

It's over the counter and prescribed under a generic name but don't know it. I'm preggers and my OB said miralax is just fine so it should be fine PP

At my kroger the Miralax is over with the heartburn/digestive stuff. And its like $25. Idk bout a generic they may offer. If u do get that only take a little at first until u see how it affects u.

Thanks ladies! I'm gonna have to get a script til this gets better

Ive heard milk of magnesium works also. But id do it the same was as the miralax... small doses!

I have gone three times in two weeks. BUT I also have been averaging about a bowl of cereal a day on intake ): I have no appetite, I think it's the pain meds.
But I will say that I usually use Aloe Vera juice and recently it worked great even for my infant. It is usually found at a health food store somewhere, I don't know if you could just put aloe leaves in a blender or what. It makes the stool soft, not watery. I just take a couple mouthfulls and it works like a charm. That smurf they gave me on discharge from post-partum made the stool soft but HUGE. It felt like reverse ass sex, I couldn't believe what I saw in the john

I have IBS-C (chronic constipation) & pre-pregnancy & throughout thefirst trimester, I had it just terrible. I'd go about once a month so I get it, it sucks. Try a stool softener twice a day, lots of water & drink a few glasses of prune juice. Try to avoid refined starches, cheese & too much fried foods. This should help you get back on track! Best of luck!
