Makes sense in the book then too. Sorry to bring up such an unsavory connotation of the name!

Random trivia from a literature nerd -

When Nabokov was writing the book, it was actually to contrast the old world European ways (Humbert Humbert) against the youth and vibrancy of post-war America (Delores/Lola Haze). He was Russian and adopted English later in life, and a lot of his use of aliteration and puns was simply because he was enjoying usage of the English language and contrasting the ways of the two places against each other, and relishing where they come together.

You totally should...it really changes a lot of context in the story. I did a huge project on this novel a few years back...I DID know about the links to the name Lola, but.....it's not my first thought when I hear the name.

Lola is a pet form of Delores, I think it's a great name! (no, my name is not really Lola, lol).

I don't it as any different than something like Lucy or Stella.
