I've never heard of putting it in a tub. lol. I just use a roasting pan and uncover it near the end for crisp colored skin. I carefully separate the skin around the butt and rub butter inside, and then all over the outside. Sprinkle with poultry seasoning or thyme. I cook low heat all day, from around ten am then the last hour or two I uncover and turn it up a little if the legs start to brown to much I put strips of tin foil on. Anyways.... good luck! I love making turkey! I am also doing a maple ham this year but making it tonight.
