Wisdom teeth

posted 23rd Dec
One of mine came in today. It didn't hurt at all it was just a little sore few days leading up until it poked thru!

Anyways what are the chances I'd HAVE to get them taken out? Do you still have your wisdom teeth? I only will ever have the top two. I don't have bottom ones!

Also surgery while pregnant? Anyone have to have it ? Or did you have to wait?

All I can say is that you are one lucky biotch! All four of mine are coming in and coming in under my back molars because my mouth's too small. It's so painful, but I'm such a pansy and keep putting the surgery off lol

None of mine look like they'll ever come in. I'm 28 and they've been in the same spot for 10+ years.

I had to get 2 of mine taken out on my left side. They were pushing my other teeth and made my bottom front teeth crooked. My teeth hurt.

They deff aren't coming in under my molars so that's a good sign! My husbands are bad and infected and smell like something died every time he opens his mouth. He has all the right resources but won't go get the surgery. I haven't kissed him in so long & won't until its all taken care of!

I had all of mine taken out. They only numbed me with local to do it and it really wasn't that bad for me. Actually, it wasn't bad at all - I never took any pain meds and as soon as I got home I was running around and playing with DS. The only smurffy thing was limiting what I could eat and not being able to smoke.

That's reassuring! I refuse to go under general anesthesia, I had a really bad experience last year, and I really don't want to use laughing gas. I was going to ask for a local, but figured they would think I was crazy lol.

Its pretty likely that you will need to get them pulled.. they will push all the rest of your teeth closer together.. and while this may be okay at first, it will get too squished very quickly. I know someone whose front teeth are overlapped because he waited too long to get his wisdom teeth taken out. But everyone's teeth are different so who knows what yours will do.
Personally I would wait until after you've had your baby to get your wisdom teeth removed... that way you don't have to worry about the anesthesia or the pain pills they give you after.
You could probably afford to wait a while though, if they are just now coming in.. and if they don't hurt you at all then maybe you're one of the lucky few who won't have to get them removed! But speaking from experience, it doesn't hurt to get them pulled! They give you anesthesia and thats it! You wake up and the procedure is done... The first few days are kind of rough because you have to watch what you eat.. and you can't chew very easily. But other then that I didn't feel much pain thanks to the pain pills.

They thought I was crazy, but they did it. I'm smurfing terrified of the idea of being put under for anything. Like, it's one of the scariest things I can imagine happening. I've had local for wisdom teeth removal, my emergency D&C, and various other procedures and have never regretted it and I always seem to recover a lot faster than those who get general anesthesia.

Haha! That's great! I'm definitely going to ask

Yeah, I am terrified of general. I had it when I had a D&C and it was an awful experience. I had to go under a second time a couple years later for a minor surgery, I tried asking my doc to just numb me but basically refused to do the surgery if I didn't go under   That was the most horrible experience ever. It would not wear off, I slept for 3 days straight, and when I would wake at times during that 3 days I would be dizzy and my vision was so blurred. I freaked the whole time before thinking I was either going to die or be stuck in a coma, I will never go under again if I can help it.

It's stories like that that terrify me. I just can't stand the idea of being forced to sleep and having no control. And I know a family whose little boy died from an allergic reaction and that didn't help my fear any.
My D&C was with local, like I said. It wasn't the greatest place to get a needle, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The entire ordeal was over in minutes and I could walk out of the office as soon as it was done and get on with my life. All I wanted was to get back to my little boy and husband; the recovery time from being put under is just too much for me.

Oh that's so terrible

My doc that did the D&C also did my other surgery, both times insisting on anesthesia.. it's kind of weird now that I think of it..
