Every 3 hours.

posted 23rd Dec
My 15 month old DD still wakes every 2-3 hours to eat. I'm exhausted. I'm lucky to get a 4 hour stretch from her. Her pedi doesn't want to try anything to get her to sleep a bit better because she was a failure to thrive baby and is still catching up on weight gain. I totally get that and could not agree more.. I just need sleep   My almost 3 year old still wakes at least once for a cup of milk.

Anyone else have awful sleepers? How do you cope?

Sounds more like habit to me, my kid gets a drink with dinner and nothingbafter 7-7:30. Or an hour before bed on weekends. Is your 3 year old potty trained?

We thought it was habit too, but I've tried cutting her milk intake into smaller amounts and she freaks as soon as she drinks the last sip. Also, tried going longer periods, like letting her fuss for 10 min, but she just keeps at it and gets so upset that we have an even harder time getting her to go back down.

And no, he is not potty trained yet. We've had a lot of difficulties with it. He pee'd once on the potty last week though.. lol.

She's 19 lbs 6 oz. Was born 7 lbs 8.9 oz, and was 17 lbs at 12 months. She's finally on the charts, in the 5th percentile, but her pedi doesn't want to take any chances since she's finally doing better. But, I am definitely jealous! DD goes down at 8:30pm and is up for the day around 7 am. She takes an hour nap at 11 am, and will sometimes take another hour nap around 4pm.

Does she eat a lot before she goes to bed? We feed our boys (they are twins) till they are almost bursting before they have their bath and go to bed. They only have milk in the morning when they first get up and we give them their sippy of water that they drink themselves in the night if they get thirsty..
Maybe try feeding her a bit extra right before bed so she is super full?

Ugh, she is a bottomless pit! She eats all day long. We've had her tested for a lot of diseases because she eats so much, but doesn't gain. We think it's a couple things 1) a malabsorbtion syndrome and 2) an extremely high metabolism. I think she's legitimately hungry, I hear her tummy growl when I go into her nursery to feed her.

She's still on a hypoallergenic formula because of her allergies and it's a high calorie formula, she gets about 6 -7 8ounce cups a day, and then eats 3 meals plus 6ish small snacks. I seriously don't get how she doesn't gain when she eats so dang much! She's been an a high caloric intake diet since she was 2 weeks old.
