Same here. I was raised by a single mother of 4 girls. I was taught my whole life to never depend on a man for anything.

If I waited on DH to do the hard smurf, I'd be screwed. He deployed for 7 months!!!!

Even now, high risk pregnant, I know a heck of a lot more about how to do carpentry, gardening, and car maintenance. dH only bears me on technology by a smidge---and his JOB is hooking into satellite networks and setting up connections and such!

I know more about cars than my SO does. I used to sell cars for a living...I actually know more about his car than he does cuz I used to sell Toyotas and he drives a Scion, which is Toyota.

As an only child, the only person my dad DID have to help him around the house with carpentry work, vehicle repair, etc was me. He wanted me to be as self-sufficient as possible.   I still, to this day, have to wire and program my parent's electronics though.

Exactly! Hell, I've seen women do "manly" jobs just as good if not better than their partners and vise versa.

I think the only things each gender can't do that the other can are ones that are solely based on body parts...such as birthing children, breastfeeding etc. Anything else, smurf it anyone can do it.
