Mama's Boy HELP!

My 8 year old has been driving me crazy for the past several months.
He follows me around non stop. I can't even go to the bathroom without literally closing the door on his face he's so close on my tail.
I like to give all my kids a little individual attention each day, but he makes it nearly impossible!
It's sweet that he wants to do everything with me, so I have a constant helper, and it's great that we have the bond we do, but I just need my space sometimes!!!
I wish he would be more clingy with my husband. Maybe I'm just pregnant and hormonal, but he alway wants to sit next to me, cuddle with me, starts fights with the others about snuggling up to me, and he wiggles so damn much it's just too much!
I've taken to locking my bedroom door when I go to the bathroom so I can crap without having him sitting outside the bathroom door telling me about what he wants to do with me or the evening or what's on his mind. I want my privacy!

Sorry so long, today, though fun, was also excruciating!

How do I keep the bond, yet teach him to allow me my personal space?

Awww...sounds to me like he might be getting a little worried about whether or not he'll have as much of his momma when the new baby comes. How many siblings does he have? When my 6 year old gets clingy I start one of his fav movies or let him play on the computer. I bought him a subscription to a game called Wizard 101 and he loves it. It gives me time for my 10 month old and to get things done. But don't worry momma, he's getting close to the age where he won't want much to do with you anymore but some money or a ride to a friends house! LOL, soak it up...when your baby comes he will be a great helper!

Thank you for responding. Computer time is definitely a good idea. We allow him this from time to time, but perhaps a little more wouldn't hurt! It would definitely help me! He mostly wants to play two player games with me, but we have some good 1 player and actually just bought this Sega console with 80 games that should definitely keep him occupied for a half hour or so. He loses interest pretty quick though, and starts looking for me to engage him.
We are soon to have a 5th child, so I am sure that this can be a bit of an issue for him when he wants more time. It's just very strange to me- all of our girls are so well adapted and very independent- even our 18 month old! She is less clingy than him!

No problem! Ya mine really likes the computer and I found him that one Wizard 101 game that he can do alone and I let him play for an hour at a time. He refuses to play outside alone so he was on me all the time for a while. Luckily he likes movies and playing "imaginary" wizard with wands & swords when he's not on the computer now. I bet the new baby in your tummy is what has made him get clingy at this age. It just shows that you're a good momma and how much he loves you, you're his best friend right now   My parents used to play hide and seek with ME when I was clingy, and then wait an hour to come find me!!! LOL
