Do I have Gestational Diabetes??

Hello, I'm 23 weeks pregnant with a boy. I started taking progesterone shots 2 weeks ago. I take them once a week every Friday. My doctor suggested that I take a 1 hour glucose test to make sure that my blood sugar is good. Apparently the shots put you at higher risk for GD. I took my blood test and my results were 165. The cut off was 139. I have a 3 hour glucose test on Monday. But now I'am just worried about it.. Im wondering if anyone else has experienced this?? Or someone who knows how they will treat me if I do have GD?

I got a 156 and passes my 3 hour, you probably will to.

You just change your diet unless you need insulin

I failed my one hour test (first time in 3 pregnancies) and had to go for the 3 hour one and passed it!! So you could be fine don't stress over it to much mama!

Well... Im kind of overweight... its also runs in my family...and I was prediabetic in 2009... BUT I just got my blood sugar checked in October and it was 90 (without drinking the sugar, but NOT fasting).. I lost a baby already at 20 weeks, and ontop of worrying about preterm labor, I dont want to have to worry about this too! UGH!

I had to take the shots also and had GD. I took very little insulin at first then changed my diet and the insulin stopped. I hated taking those effing shots every week!! ughh Eat fish and chicken breast.. Ya so dont miss that..but hey good luck everything will be fine!!

No.. I took the test at 11:45 am and had not eaten since about 7pm the night before. Just drank the juice stuff.

well was your 1 hr results really high?? Do you think they would put me on insulin for 165?

I just experienced this. Fasted for both. Had 160 on my first. I stared underweight and no diabetes in my family. They send you to a class where they discuss changing your diet. My dr then had me check my sugar 7levels times a day. They then decide to give insulin or not. Ive gotten lucky and no meds so far. It was very scary for me and i thought i would be starving all the time but its totally not bad at all. And you can still eat things you like just portion control. Good luck! Dont freak out though i promise its not that bad

No they wont put you on insulin your not that bad. I only took it for 3 days. I was stuck in the hospital for 2 weeks with preterm labor so they kept an eye on me lol..My hubby snuck in jack in the box. You will be fine it really isnt that bad. Just dont drink soda every day and eat crap

I would try not to worry, I know it's hard, but I spent a whole four days frantic I had and I didn't. I even changed my diet drastically and then my baby starting to fall behind in growth-I will never know if this was why but not worth it.

Thanks guys! I am just full of anxiety.. I lost my first baby at 20 weeks............ so this being my second pregnancy and being 6 months pregnant, just 9 months after the loss of my last baby is tough Its just another thing to worry and obsess over. Ontop of progesterone shots... Iam a raging bitch, with mad mood swings..and then the cherry on the cake is the (sorry TMI) yeast infection that I have gotten 2 times this month. which I also worry is a symptom of GD...I am SO ready to be full term and have this baby already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
