He's been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic, and honestly he's not even that bad now, much tamer than he ever was when I was a kid.

As long as he takes his medication, he's fine to be around and have discussions with, HIGHLY intelligent, he has a freakin library for a living room, wall to wall books he's read over and over, the problem is he still has these aggressive moments where he becomes very agitated if he doesn't like what he hears, so I limit our time together.. we can't be around eachother for too long because he starts in on me.

psh, idk! i always liked Dennis Rader. I didn't see the movie they made about him, though. I watch all this stuff and then i get super creeped out and can barely stay home alone.

I was watching one tv show, the guy was a clown! he loved to make people laugh and was a great "family" man - he was killing and burying teenage males, under his house for decades. no one knew. they always said it smelled kind of weird. and he knew exactly where they were buried, in what order, even what way they were facing. and BTK was the same way, he told in such great detail how he committed all of the murders.

I've taken courses on everything for Forensic Sciences to psychology to studying serial killers, so hopefully I can provide a bit of insight.

Yes, killing and mutating animals is a sign of mental instability that is easily linked to a serial killer. Think about it this way...A very typical attribute of a serial killer is a lack of emotion/remorse. When a child is senselessly killing or mutating an animal, the child is removing themselves from the emotions, basically ignoring or disregarding the animal's feelings. (If that makes any sense?) Another way to put it is the child is training himself to seperate emotion from action.

What happens with this is a child is training himself to seperate emotions...when that child gets older, he is capable of seperating his emotions from his actions, or basically not feeling anything. And that's where the connection is between killing animals and people. It's like taking baby steps up to murdering people.

In Jeffery Dahmar's case, we can see what can be called "training" occuring in his childhood, where he is basically taking his baby steps into becoming a serial killer. He would bike around his neighbourhood, looking for dead animals to dissect, even putting a dog's head on a stake. And when we look at what he did to his victims...we see eerie patterns occuring.

Now, to your question on Dahmer being sexually abused...again, we see eery, eery patterns, and it's totally linked to how a serial killer chooses his victims. Sometimes the killers themselves do not even realize how they choose their victims...they are just looking for their trigger characteristic. And it generally is linked to some negative experience. Jeffrey Dahmer was sexually abused by a boy his age. His targets? Young men in his general age range. Not women, but young men.

There is so much more I could say on this, but I believe I've talked enough..As far as signs of a serial killer, though...there is so much more I could go into. Everything from physical actions to social interactions can give clues to who these people are, if you know what to look for.

Ah I'm sorry I judged before knowing his diagnosis. Now I feel like an smurf. I can see myself being this way eventually without my meds. I won't say my diagnosis unless I'm actually asked because people will judge me. But it isn't too far from his diagnosis. Not to blame everything on his mental illness but that could be a big reason he has done those things. And continue to do things like getting angry at you. I sympathize with both you and your dad and family.

Yea I mean I've mentioned a few things that I've been diagnosed with but not a couple of major ones that I've been diagnosed with. I believe I've said a little too much sometimes but it is who I am
