Question is simple....

Do you think it is appropriate to smack/spank you child/ren for bad behavior?

I think it depends on the behavior, the age of the child, what other forms of discipline have been tried, and what a smack/spank means to you vs a beating.

spanking for big things and at an appropriate age.

I don't care what other parents do. Spanking doesn't work for our family so its not appropriate for my children.

To me a smack and spank are two different things. I spank when I feel the situation calls for it.

I have spanked out of frustration, no idea what else to do in a harmful situation type thing. I don't think it's appropriate for my children and it doesn't help at all.

depends on the child, their age, what they did, and what other methods were used first. a spanking isn't the same as a beating.

Yeah I wouldn't call it smacking  
Our 5 1/2 year old gets spanked occasionally. But it's more of a last resort.

I got a few taps on the butt when I was a kid, but I was never "smacked." It had to be something pretty bad to deserve a spanking though...

All depends on the age of the child as well.

There is too large of a spectrum when you say "bad behavior," so no. I don't plan on spanking anyway, but I'm not against others who do, and IF i were going to decide whether it was appropriate I'd need to know a hypothetical situation or something.
