How Long After Giving Birth...

posted 22nd Dec
Does the pressure go away? My son will be 2 weeks old on Monday. It hurts to sit on the toilet to go pee because I have so much pressure between my legs. Amazingly, my stitches don't bother me. Just the constant pressure. It hurts to sit, lay down or walk around. I didn't feel any of this pressure until DS was about 5 days old. Foster SIL says I could have fractured my pelvic bone, but I just think it's from his big ole head. I'm just not sure why it took so long to start feeling it. Any ideas how long I will be hurting for?

ETA: I have a follow up with my doctor on January 2nd. after the holidays.

Not that long for me. You might have a bladder infection or something along those lines.

I'm not sure. Like it doesn't hurt to actually pee, but sitting on the toilet puts even more pressure on it. Idk if that makes sense? I guess I should talk to my doctor, I was suppose to see him 2 weeks PP, but because of the holidays I have to wait.

Last time I had a bladder infection peeing didn't hurt (they say it usually burns or something) but it was like the effort to pee was hurting, if that makes any sense.

That does sound like an infection. I'd go back to the doctor asap. I had an infection and after 3 or 4 days it became excrutiating really quickly. It turned out to be that g strep infection (I may have the name wrong I'm not good at remembering) and my son caught it in the birth canal then got meningitus at 8 weeks. So def worth checking it immediately, better safe then sorry.

I only had that pressure untill I pee'd the first time after labor. I agree with these ladies, and think you may have an infection... I'd get checked out just incase.

You should get one of those belts that holds your hips together after birth. I never had to get one but I've heard they really help in cases like that.
And maybe even get a follow up sooner...or at least call and ask your doc what he/she thinks. Because I didn't have discomfort for that long.

Agreed!

I'm suffering from one right now....I feel burning, but I also feel pressure. I got it from the catheter.

Okay, that could be what it is. It doesn't burn at all. I am gonna call & try to get in to be seen sooner. I hope my doctors office isn't closed the whole week for Christmas.

If they are, you can go into a regular or urgent care clinic and do a pee test to see if there is an infection, and if that's what it is they can write you antibiotics. Of course there is the risk that it's not an infection and you end up still needing to go see the OB lol
