Oh I fully understand, it is bullsmurf & ass backwards. Sometimes good people get caught up in bad situations, it shouldn't be held against them forever.

Ok I believe yea there should be situations where people shouldn't be able to work in certain field like a sex offender, but drug crimes are just petty as hell to me to have it prevent you from getting a job. There are situations where it does hold a person back from fully moving on in life. I think I worded it a bit wrong, but I think there should be exemptions for some crimes, where it isn't putting anyone in harms way by them working that job. Like I said good people get caught in bad situations at times.

I think it should be up to an employer, honestly. If they don't want to hire someone with x kind of conviction, they shouldn't have to. I get good people get caught up but normally they put themselves in that position by association (especially for a felony conviction). There's a reason you have a "record", there's a reason you have references and a history. Every employer should be able to make an educated choice on the person they want to take a chance on.

Yea I fully understand that & it makes sense, but I think it also sets many people up for failure which is why many people go back to jail. It kind of a hard situation to deal with because on one hand the people are capable of doing the same thing, yet there are others who want to do better & never go back to jail. Nobody is able to tell who is who so it is a risk no matter what.

I think they drug guidelines need to change, but not be taken away completely.

I understand the reasoning behind the ban. You don't need money to rape or murder someone. You do need money to buy drugs. You can't sell your state funds to pay for another crime, but you can with drugs, and that's state funding being flushed down the toilet and taken from people who need it.

There are ways she can work in the adult industry to feed her kids without street hooking......is she seriously jacking off random dudes riding by on the street for a couple dollars?

Agreed. The record should be wiped every 10 years or something as long as there are no other reoffenses. Coming from someone who has a permanent record from a crime she committed while 18 years old under the influence, and diagnosed with PPP.

They said even for the baby because it'll go onto my card?
I'm having her on February 28th by repeat c-section.

I'm honestly clueless about it all really. They don't have restrictions of this sort in Florida. I'm just hoping that the willoughs can send me the paperwork I need, otherwise we'll be pretty screwed until I can get a job after the baby is born.

A lot of working girls use backpage and craigslist instead of working the streets these days.

I understand what they're trying to accomplish but not every junkie has a drug charge and not everyone selling their stamps is a junkie. I have known people who sold their stamps every month just to have the extra cash that don't do drugs.

IMO, every place that accepts stamps should be required to use a barcode system. Places that punch in how much an order costs are often the places that buy food stamps.

Could very well be their county's policy, then. And if that's the case I'd file for a fair hearing if they deny aid to your child. They're not allowed to deny aid to your child.

I didn't say they all are. I said I understand their reasoning.

You don't have to sell to the store itself to sell them. It's pretty easy to find someone to go sell your card to, and they can go shopping with it.

It's smurfing weed for smurf's sake.
I smoked like 3 bowls last night and I'm certainly not a criminal.
The way our society treats drugs and drug users is smurfing insane. Someone's personal drug use is not a reason to lock them up and permanently tarnish their record.
Our system is so smurfed up. Yes, let's STARVE people because they've done drugs. How on earth does that make sense?
