Start of laborn

Being a first time mother I am concerned about going into labor. What concerns me is either going into labor at work (I am the only worker there) or going into labor when the father is at work. He takes the car and works about 30 minutes away. The closest hospital is a 25 minute drive from where I live. From my work it is like a 35 minute drive, however I usually do not keep the car when I work.
Anyway, I was wondering how long did it take for you the realize you were in labor until you actually went in to be seen? Should I be worried about being alone during my final weeks of pregnancy?
I have two older sisters but they were scheduled to be induced so they aren't much help. I don't want to be induced unless 100% necessary. Please help calm me down and stop me from stressing. Tha

You can always call a cab or ambulance if you're by yourself. I was planning on starting my maternity leave the week I was due, didn't make it that far though (didn't go into labor, had to have emergency c).

With my first, I realized I was in labor around 5pm. Regular contractions every 20 to 25 minutes. I went for walks, had sex, ate dinner, and went to bed. I was abloe to sleep until 1:00 am when my contractions got a lot worse, and were like 5 minutes apart. I then got ready and went to hospital. I still didnt deliver until 3:20 that afternoon. It was a very long drawn out process, that I had plenty of time to prepare for. It goes different for everyone, but I hear its usually a little longer for your first.

i started to feeling noticable discomfort at 2 p.m. i didnt take them seriously till 6 p.m. You will have plenty of time to get ahold of someone to get you to the hospital.
Now a great story. My husband was firefighting on the mountain (2 1/2 hours away) i thought i was going into labor. Very noticable and lasted for 6 hours. i had to go through 6 people to find and get ahold of my husband. Good luck

If you are alone when you go into labour (not saying you will) have a person you can call to talk to and calm you down and pre occupy you for a little, have a list of things you can do like go through your hospital bag, fold some washing, etc so you are doing something and if you get too worried call a cab or ambulance and leave a message for your SO
