What would you have done?

If you don't teach your kids about Santa but want to answer, just pretend you do for the sake of answering.

Okay so my nephews are (almost) 6 and 8. The other day while at their house C (6) yells down the stairs, "mom is Santa real??" So K (SO's sister, the kids' mom) yells "G (8 ) get down here NOW!" It took about 5 tries but she got G down stairs. She asked why he'd even say that. He was like "well technically I talked to myself. Just out loud. It's not my fault he heard." It didn't seem like she really knew how to handle it. She kept asking "why would you even say that to him?" Finally G says something about his teacher, but he mumbled so all I heard was "well my teacher said...we..." So K just stared blankly at him for a second and was like "what even gives your teacher the right to say that to you? What business does she have saying that to your class at all? What does it matter to her what anyone believes in?" So from that I'm assuming the teacher told the whole class about Santa. K continued "Well, G, you believe whatever you want. But all I know is the kids who don't believe in Santa, Santa won't bring them anything. So go ahead, stop believing. Then you won't get anything, doesn't bother me."
Then C (eavesdroppng in the kitchen) yells "well mom, I know that actually Santa IS REAL!! I believe in him!"

Just curious, how would you have handled it? Especially the teacher part? I know I stopped believing at 10, when I found a Chia pet under my mom's bed. On Christmas morning I unwrapped the same present "from Santa". But nobody ever said he wasn't real except a couple friends, and it was right around the same time I found out myself.

Not much can be done once the damage is done but id prob call that teacher and let them know i apprciate if they would keep their truths to themselves..

yuup i'd be mad at her :/ not like really voice it but let her know to not fill my kids head with anything and let me do it and that if i wanted them to know i was santa i would tell them

Yeah, I just felt bad because I feel like younger and younger kids stop believing these days. But hopefully he'll believe a little longer. Besides the 5 year old there's also a new baby, I'd like to see them all get to believe as long as possible.

And yeah I would've been on the phone the next morning as soon as the kids were on the bus.

That's what I was thinking. All I know is if a teacher ever told me about Santa my mom would've been so far up the teacher's ass. Lol, my mom was completely hands on, and if she was upset, whoever did it KNEW. But really if it was my kid I would've be pretty pissed. I mean they can't un-hear it but I'd go out of my way to instill Santa into their head for a little longer.
