Quoting lolajessup:" <blockquote><b>Quoting [JadeLee]:</b>" I feel like DD's bio dad is going to try to ... [snip!] ... he would never, I am hoping things have changed in the last year."</blockquote> Some dads don't just to be spiteful "
Quoting K&L's Mommy!:" Yeah, my ex told me the same thing. So, I just let it lay for awhile....I just planned to not contact ... [snip!] ... a couple times and he never responded. Then we set the court date, and there ya go. Do you guys have any contact right now?"
Quoting lolajessup:" <blockquote><b>Quoting [JadeLee]:</b>" I feel like DD's bio dad is going to try to ... [snip!] ... he would never, I am hoping things have changed in the last year."</blockquote> Some dads don't just to be spiteful "Yeah, I was glad that I read that there is a possibility of termination after no contact for a year. By the time we are in court it will probably have been two, and that is if SO and I are married within the next year. I would like to marry SO before DD is in Kindergarten, but I get more grants and such right now though I graduate in May.
Quoting [JadeLee]:" No not at all. My number has been the same for a few years and he has not tried contacting since he ... [snip!] ... for 3 months before that, and before that it was like every 3 months for 9. And he lived in the building next to mine."
Quoting K&L's Mommy!:" definitely! my ex saw my son twice in his life. and the only reason why he saw him those times, was ... [snip!] ... (when my son was 13 months), he had a visitation. then he had one more and never saw him again (my son will be 5 in february)"He was in her life for the first year. But then he started drinking more and smoking pot more, he previously used meth and from when I have seen him at walmart he looks like he has been using SOMETHING. Anyway after I got with SO when DD was a year and a half he has barely seen her and like I said before it was every 3 months for like a year anyway and his apartment was 100 feet away from mine in another building.
Quoting K&L's Mommy!:" are you married? here in ks, he couldn't sign over rights unless there was someone to adopt him...and ... [snip!] ... time until after you are married before you can do it. but...the longer he goes of no contact, the better your case will be."We plan on getting married, in the summer or the fall possibly the following spring. I won't file anything until we are, just possibly consult a lawyer. If we have a baby by then we are thinking of just doing a courthouse or small JOP wedding, since we are basically married anyway just not on paper.
Quoting HopingforaMiracle:" <blockquote><b>Quoting [JadeLee]:</b>" Yeah, I was glad that I read that there is a ... [snip!] ... lives for 3 years. No child support, no contact. He came back into our lives and we had to go with him for weeks in the summer."That seems terrible. When my parents divorced they left everything up to me and my sister. I could choose who I lived with, and just went to my weekends with the other person.
Quoting lolajessup:" <blockquote><b>Quoting [JadeLee]:</b>" Yeah, I was glad that I read that there is a ... [snip!] ... married cause I wouldn't be able to afford school if we were I have to finish school. If I don't I'll feel like a failure."We got engaged a year ago, and I told him only if I could finish school first.
