Nightmare before Christmas

posted 20th Dec
So my 2nd favorite Christmas movie ever is The Nightmare Before Christmas (my first is A Christmas Story) and I posted "Yay tomorrow is Friday and I get to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas with my girl" on Facebook. A couple of friends responded it is not appropriate for children, it is a horrible kids movie. Is The Nightmare Before Christmas an inappropriate children's move? (Not based on the rating, in your opinion)

I watch it with my two year old all year round. I don't see what would be inappropriate about it.

Dafuq? That's a great movie for kids and adults alike. Same goes for movies like Beetle Juice. I remember loving that movie when I was young.

I dont think it's inappropriate. I wouldn't watch it with DD cuz it would scare the smurf out of her, but hopefully when she's a little older. Depends on the kid.

My DS doesn't like it because there isn't cars or "buzz lighter" (he just can't say lightyear yet LOL). My DD loves it. It is our Christmas tradition, we cuddle up on the couch and watch it just us girls, popcorn, and usually a milkshake. LOL

My friends son has always loved that movie.
My children on the other hand are way to sensitive, so I haven't have them watch it yet. My 4 yearold cries during the Lion King, Bambi, Sleeping Beauty (thinks she is dead), Pocahontas...... sooo no Nightmare before Christmas for her. lol

I think it depends on the kid, My kid loves movies like that. She looves the nightmare before chritmas. She loves the labyrinth with david bowie, she likes the dark crystal. I think the nightmare before Christmas is a little darker, but parents let there kids watch violent things all the freaking time with no second thought, nightmare before christmas is magical and well done, the music captures my daughter right away and she sang along and danced around the room, and fell in love with all the characters. I think its a brilliant movie.

Dafuq? I watched that movie on the daily when I was a kid. So often in fact that my 3 year old little sister took the VHS tape and smashed it into tiny bits. I wouldn't let DS watch it right now because he's going through a phase where everything scares him, but he's not even 2 yet so that's understandable. There was a pinata on tv the other day that looked like Raggedy Anne and THAT scared him. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Ignore them.
