Umm... No, in a lot of states you do not need a permit to carry a weapon. Most are only to conceal a weapon (do not apply to a weapon worn in plain sight) and some states you don't even need a permit to conceal.

I definitely judge people who own those types of guns as one of or both of the following: A)paranoid B)violent tendencies

Like, seriously, if you need to do that much destruction-to ANYTHING-you are smurfed in the head mentally.

And, if you shoot for sport and need that many shots to hit your target-then you suck balls at your hobby.

Which is why I'm for regulations being put in place that call for all members of said potential gun owner's household to undergo background and psychological checks.

I understand some small guns-or whatever people use for "hunting"--but some of the smurf out there is just not necessary. For anyone.

I just said something the other day to this effect. If it takes you that many bullets, your aim sucks and you probably shouldn't have a gun...

I agree and disagree. Just because I have a mental illness and been in a hospital multiple times shouldn't mean my brother shouldn't have a gun. Or my dad. The guns should also be locked away from people that aren't stable

That's exactly my point. Criminals obviously have no regard for the law in the first place, PLUS most mass shooters go in planning to commit suicide, and therefore give zero smurfs about any consequences they won't face.

All in all, I'm just saying that I don't think it's a solution to the problem at hand.

They should be locked up, BUT we know that not everyone is responsible and that chance shouldn't be taken. I have a mental illness too and would not live with someone who owns/wants to own a gun. I know that I could potentially get to the point where that gun would look nice....
