How does your almost 3 yr old speak?
posted 20th Dec
My son is 2 yrs and almost 9 months. Everywhere we go people are shocked at how well he speaks and thinks he's 3 or 4 even
He speaks completely full sentences ALWAYS and says 4-5 syllable words. He also speaks very clearly so you can understand everything he's saying. And he sings songs.
We have never made a big deal about it and to US it's normal. But seriously, at his 2 yr check up his pedi didn't even believe us that he was speaking4-5 word sentences(at the time) and women with multiple children randomly out in public will be shocked, like ALL the time this happens(multiple times every week). I'm wondering if he's actually THAT advanced or if people are just making a big deal out of it?

M will be three in a few weeks and speaks in full sentences. She was speaking sentences at her 2yr appointment as well, just not as long as now.

My 2.5 yr old has been speaking full sentences since right before she turned 2.
At her 2 year appointment I made a list of all the words/phrases she could say, and the pedi didn't believe me Lol.
IDK. Maybe we just have smarties.
I love being able to have conversations with my 2 yr old

my daughter was pretty hard to understand at that age. not always but a lot of times she'd just talk too fast and jumble all her words.

Thats normal for his age. He is not the only one.

She needs a little speech therapy but she can carry on conversations. It just amazes me. Fully detailed and descriptive and everything. For a good like 3-5 minutes before she's off doing something else.

DD started saying words at 6 months like mom/dad but at 7 months she was saying banana and train/etc. By a year she was talking in a few word sentences, and by two years she was speaking in full sentences. At 3 she was talking in full, clear sentences enough that a stranger can fully understand her. She's advanced in speech though, and I would say your son is too.

My oldest was speaking in sentences at 18 months....I know he was advanced at that age. I think part of it is because he is the oldest and I would talk to him ALL the time. His vocabulary was/is incredible. My youngest (who is 3 in march)didn't start really speaking until he reached 2. He speaks in sentences, but he wasn't advanced like his older brother....but I think that was mainly because my oldest would (and still does) talk for him all the time.

Autumn is 2 years and 7 months and talks like there's no tomorrow. Very clear speaking, very long sentences. She's also the best parrot ever, lmao.

He was behind until like 20ish month, then he just took off from there. Before 20 months he was barely speaking 10-20 words, and not putting them together at all. It's just surprising that now he's so ahead.
I've also seen women on here talking about how their kids talk and repeating things they say, and a lot of the time they're like 2 or 3 words sentences, like "baby talk" and the kids are older than my son.

My son just turned 3 on Halloween and he never stops talking, lol. Even before he was three he was saying full sentences, such as "Mommy, why did you forget to buy me bananas at the grocery store yesterday?" I love that he has a great vocabulary but I just told him like 5 minutes ago that he was driving me crazy because he has not stopped to even take a breath for like 2 hours.

My twins just had their 3 year check up, and the doctor said that she should only be able to understand 3/4 of what they say, but she understood everything clear and perfect. I don't think the twins are "advanced" but according to the pedi they are.
and apparently it's shocking that i have both of my three year olds fully potty trained.
